Possible raised seams vote in november. More important than the presidential election imo.

sorry
I saw the "/thread" and decided I'd mention a little baseball. No way I'm starting a thread over that tweet.

Oh, I understand why they are doing it. It makes sense why they are doing it if you think from their perspectives.
I just don't think it is THE answer and not the change that is really needed in the sport, which has real potential to grow, but I don't want it to miss its opportunity.

Sorry I'm ignorant.
How are raised seams beneficial?

No they don't dumbass. LSU/Auburn is the Marquis ESPN matchup Sat. night. They gotta hype it.

They're not. They currently have raised seams which provides pitchers an extra advantage due to grip, spin, and drag. The drag also plays a part after the ball is in the air.

Leech said there are zero plans at this point to change the TD Ameritrade configurations. But raised seam ball could be voted on in November
shouldn't this be a vote on lower seams not raised seams?
Posted on 9/19/13 at 10:44 pm to ell_13
Aaron Nola ain't gonna be happy with lowered seams. I know he has many effective pitches, but his 2-seamer is his most effective IMO.

I think he's saying that the balls currently have raised seams and that they are voting on lowering them

He'll be gone before the new balls are put into play.
Posted on 9/19/13 at 10:47 pm to AstroTiger
Oh, it won't be an instant implementation?

I don't see how a vote in Nov. could affect this season. I would think they would want the teams using them during the fall. I'm speculating though.

I'd hope they're doing this vote now so that they can make immediate changes. It's obvious something needs to be done, regardless if it's the exact, necessary answer.

A flat seam baseball could be mandatory for NCAA Division I baseball tournament games as early as the 2015 season if coaches show support
quote:
“They are nearing the end of their study and will then do some field testing with the ball before finalizing their conclusions,” said Keilitz.
“I have suggested that everything be finalized by the end of September.”
At that point, Keilitz plans on sending the results to NCAA Division I head coaches so they can vote in a survey for the raised seam ball or flat seam ball.
“Based upon the input, I will then report the desires of our coaches to the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee for discussion and possible action at their November meeting,” said Keilitz.

Thanks for the find. :fingerscrossed:

Good thread derailment. Much better than reading people bitch about Michael Clayton thinking Nick Saban is the best CFB coach.

Are field testing and studies really needed? Isn't this basically the same ball used in the minors?
