Yep.
At the very least, bring Mett in to try and create a spark.
Les quit.

And why couldn't Mett get more time throughout the year in mop-up duty? Couldn't the experience have helped him a little?

I just watched the replay on ESPNU. The way they talked about LSU, you would think we were ranked outside of the top 20. The only LSU team they are thinking about is the LSU team that played on 1/9, which is unfortunate.

ETA: I don't think Pollack likes LSU. He never has anything good to say about them.

Serious question for the Rantards:

Why do you watch ESPN outside of our game broadcasts? Any one of you folks could have e-mailed me a month ago and I could have told you what they were going to say, complete with the USC suck off.

You people must be gluttons for punishment.

Agreed.

I DVR'd it to watch when I get home from work but am now going to delete it. I don't need more aggravation in my life.

And nobody knows. So acting as if everything would have worked out the exact same with a different quarterback is just as ridiculous as questioning his talent because he didn't play last year. We were winning. Why change something when you're winning? Oh, because fans live with 20-20 hindsight ability.

But Les did change something. LSU was undefeated with Lee and he changed to Jefferson. If Mett has a really good season this year, it will be hard not to question if he couldn't have been more effective than JJ/Lee last year. But like you said its the past and time to move on.

Shocker.

Bingo.

I had a going bet with several friends last year that IF LSU won the BCSNCG convincingly, that ESPN would discuss USC at the end of the game.

My vision was LSU taking a knee to run out the clock while Brent and Kerbie stated something like "there is a team in Los Angeles that may think otherwise, but LSU appears to be your 2011 BCS Champs".

Of course, I would have had to find that shite out here, since I was at the game and would never watch an ESPN broadcast without my TV on mute.

ESPN are the fools that started pushing Jefferson last summer and talking about how great he was. They both suck. Plus ESPN/FOX just signed a hugh
tv deal with the PAC 10/12. Get ready to hear how great Oregon and USC are.

Unfortunately this is true, hence the "selling of Jefferson." An experienced Mettenberger may have been the difference in the last game, it would have been worth it to have him play enough to be ready to play in that game.

The "weakness" in this team IMO is if Mett goes down, I don't think LSU can go undefeated with any of the backups. Still, with a healthy QB this team should end up in the NCG again regardless of what the pundits say.

So we discount the entire season playing two guys because the last one was a loss?

We didn't play two guys the entire season. We played one guy a majority of the season and did quite well even though we were ridiculously conservative. Then we played another QB, and had trouble making first downs the rest of the season.

Then of course the NCG, where we were all witnesses to that amazing display of fireworks.

Hardly.

Jefferson "won" The Game Of The Century That Didn't Count.

Looking back, I wish LSU had lost that game now, honestly. We would have played in the Sugar Bowl, won that game, and everyone would still love Les and LSU. LOL

You know, sometimes I wonder what would have happened if LSU would have just lost that first game. Would it have been better for us?

What is so interesting is that if LSU does in fact have the dream season this year, Les still looks like a moron for not playing Mett last year.

Only actual morons will think that.

Its only an issue because of 1 game. Tyler Wilson, who is projected as at worst the #2 QB in CFB next year didn't do shite against Alabama's D, but some how if only Les played Mettenberger all year, we would have beaten Bama. its non sense.

and with Jefferson in there we we killing people just like before with Lee. There is no way we beat Bama on 11/5 if Jefferson didn't play. Watch Lee's 2nd INT, it was a horrible pass that got returned inside the 5, but called back because of a block in the back.

Actually its pretty easy. People are letting the horrible performance of the last game cloud the fact that QB play WAS NOT AN issue all last year, save for 2 games against the same team, that fricked up every other QB they faced.

Little Herbie is still highly embarrassed by his story about Les going to Michigan which Les shut down before the SEC Chanpionship game in 2010. He's also embarrassed because he has to leave the booth to get Mussbergers hot tea and geritol at every game.

We win out and play in the Sugar Bowl, which would have been what we would have deserved for not winning the conference.

We play ZM but still lose to Bama but Les isn't a moron? Why?

If he plays ZM and we lose to Bama, then everyone is sitting here saying, well why did he play a 1st year QB over 2 seniors.

FIFY.

The 20/20 hindsihgt is staggering in this thread. Do you tards realize how much had to go Bama's way after the 11/5 game? OSU and Stanford had to lose at a minimum. Who knows if OU wins out and beats OSU the last game if they don't get more votes, or Oregon.

We got the breaks in 2007, Bama got them last year. It sucked for us to have to play them again, but its over. a Big 2012 should erase the pain.

Mett. may have given lSU a better chance vs Alabama. Les never gave this a chance to happen. No one is saying Mettenberger would have definitely won the game.

Mett. should have been playing for weeks in preparation for the NCG. Outside the Arkansas game, JJ offered nothing. There is legitimate reason for criticism and I think Mettenberger will make everyone question why he wasn't playing last season in preparation for the NCG. Miles was going JJ all the way and everyone knew it.
