And quite honestly Arkansas shouldn't be 23rd if we're not 25th.
Identical resume to LSU so far.

moved up 7 spots to 20th in AP poll.

beat an 8-8 Cleveland State team and a 5-7 Fordham team. That's quite the jump.

Damn, that is a big jump. Not that I'm complaining. Surprised to be ahead of ODU, since those fricks beat VCU as well.
Assuming its more to do with starting off ranked, and better name last few years. Plus no bad losses.(UVA, ODU, and Villanova)

no doubt. Same with Arkansas except we're a few years removed from 1994...

Yea at least with VCU they were in the Final Four 4 years ago, and in the tournament every year since.

Once again, the LSU marketing department is shitting the bed when it comes to promoting games.

8pm tip Saturday night and the causal fan prob has no idea. It's a damn shame

What do you propose they do? As a season ticket holder I get an email every Sunday or Monday telling me about "this week in LSU sports". I've seen billboards around town and ads in the Advocate promoting upcoming LSU basketball games. The SEC Network is going to promote the game. Johnny Jones has a radio show tonight which I think is also aired on TV. If you look at any website re: LSU sports you are aware that there is a game Saturday night.

The casual fan knows it's basketball season. It's just a matter of them deciding to get off their arse and come to the game.

look, I'm excited about our basketball team, but this is WAY TOO EARLY to be talking about.

We haven't played a single conference game. Let's wait until we're halfway through the SEC to assess where we are regarding March Madness.

Ummm, why?

We are almost halfway thru the year and a team can either position themselves well or be almost out of it by this point... LSU has positioned themselves well.

Exactly. This is our fewest amount of OOC pre-conference losses since we had Marcus Thorton. And we also have a marquee road win over a top 25 team.

I like to break down the SEC season into game groupings. I see our first 4 SEC games as group 1. We NEED to be no less than 3-1 in these 4 games.

The very first game is the key: Mizzou may look bad but they will be doing everything they can do to start off the SEC season with a win at home. I think we may struggle especially of we do not start fast.

Why?

Because our schedule thus far has been mostly cupcakes. The early season of college basketball doesn't usually tell much.

Hanging our hat on a seemingly good win over WV (but with losses to ODU and Clemson) doesn't do much. But again, we don't really know how good or bad those wins and losses are until later in the season when we'll see how good or bad those teams really are.

Moral of the story: it's too early to tell.

Old Dominion is in the top 25 right now and Clemson was the 3rd game in 4 days with a team that isn't very deep. West Virginia has beaten everyone else they have played including UCONN, NC State, TCU...

Noone here is saying that LSU is a lock to be in or out of the tournament, but to act like it is too early to discuss the greatest postseason event in all of sports is ludicrous. The day the season starts, it isn't too early to talk about potential NCAA Tournament births. That is why you play the game...

WVU is 14-1 right now, they knocked off Texas Tech last night. The win @WVU is going to be HUGE come March, and we have no horrifically bad OOC losses.
