LINK

Vilma and Jim Mora have Alabama ranked #1 because of defense... yet we are ranked #25 in total defense and Alabama is rank #36 in total defense.

LINK to total defense stats

Interesting. I would not have guessed that myself. Not to mention we have played better offensive teams at this point.

Alabama's defense is not great. LSU's isn't either but I'd say LSU probably has a slight edge.

So that's a pretty stupid way of ranking the two.

Until we beat Alabama, stats don’t matter. They own us right now. So if our defense is better and our offense is equal, we should win. That’s why we play the game

If they justified Bama jumping Clemson then the same applies to us now but that won’t happen. Polls are pure politics.

Broadcasters are often lazy and go off of reputation. Good news is we play them and get to settle in on the field.

I can understand ranking Bama ahead of LSU based on the last near decade of head to head results.

To be honest, I'd rather be #2 and beat #1 than #1 and beat #2.

Likely the only explanation for their rationale.

Even the Gumps on the SEC Rant have been complaining about the number of blown assignments they've had this season.

It's all perception. We give up 28 and our defense sucks. Bama gives up 28 to A&M, but the headlines say, "the Tide keeps rolling."

Makes zero difference since we play each other.

Yep, we missed the field goal that would have given us the same margin of victory.

Well we haven’t beat Saban in 8 years, we’ve scored 10 points total in the last 3 years against him, and last year Bama shut Burrow out in Death Valley. We won’t be ranked above them until we beat them, as it should be.

Alabama's defense has looked pretty ordinary against less than stellar competition.

I will go berserk if Alabama pitches another shutout this year. It's making me crazy

Way better teams. Bama is cupcake city as usual.
