After watching the tigers play this weekend how did we get in this situation of not having a third baseman.Delatt is hitting around 200 that is bad.We are the third rank team in the country but we don't have any one better than that.I ask the question this weekend and was told Bo D has a sore arm and Dozar is needed to backup Gibbs. You mean to tell me we don't have anyone else.I think out of the three Dozar may be the best hitter, but someone that hits 200 should not be in the line up.

Why don't you go cry somewhere else. Its called losing a great bunch of juniors last year and losing a bunch of recruits to the draft. If you think its so bad now, wait till next year when Gibbs and Ranaudo are both gone.

This

We also lost Colvin and ZVR to the MLB. This season is going to be a little shaky.

You think it's bad now?

In 07 LSU had a starting infield consisting of Ochinko, MeGhee, Hollander, and Wise. None of the four hit over 280. Now that is a lack of recruiting, however it was Smoke Laval...

I think you need to take a deep breath and relax over this entire situation. If your worst concern about this team is a defensive third baseman who is going to get a hit every five plate apperances then you have major issues.

LSU did win the title last year with Helenihi in Omaha who could have basically gone up to the plate without his bat. He was stellar defensively and if you have the glove Mainieri is going to play you.

It's frightening, but the O-T may actually be more rational than the Rant these days

Didn't the 3rd baseman hit 1 for the tournament last year?

You're batting .200 when it comes to formulating a thought and putting it into words.

Slow down, guy who started cheering for LSU in 2004. The baseball team is doing just fine.

Its early, bats will come around. Flash back to the past pre conference games the past two years. We rantards have benched every starting position player on the LSU team at one time or another.

wet's batting avg is a bit atrocious. there's no excuse.. regardless how much lack of experience you have.. and it doesn't matter who LSU had the previous season. this is a premiere baseball program of the SEC. there should be freshman on the team that can atleast hit .250+

Look on the positive side. Delatte hit a single to score Landry. With the bases loaded on two occassions in the game with one out, Watkins and Hanover strike out and Mattook and Landry do the same. Do we bench them, I think not. I have all the faith that Mainieri will make a change if a change is warranted. Just remember the Nola change last year when we couldn't turn a double play. Patience is a virtue.

Thats not the point I was making,we have to get better and having a guy hiting 200 playing third will not take you to Omaha. You need to have 9 guys who are a threat.Having a automatic out is not going to get it done. I really hope the kid starts hitting, but I just don't see it.

Delatte is a good defensive third baseman. Sometimes you give up a little bit of offense to have better defense. You can't always have 8 players in the lineup hitting 400 and winning gold gloves. I'd much rather have a reliable fielder there than a guy who hit's 400 and makes daily errors.

I agree, but you got to hit more than 200. He just looks lost at the plate. He really has not had many chance's at third.I did see him throw one in the dirt but Dean made the scope to save the er.
