The Bears getting pounded but Ego has looked good all night. Applying constant pressure up the middle.

Ego quit on his teammates to save himself for the draft.

Les and the Tigers are figuring out better 4 year plans for each Tiger player. i.e. OL and DL tend to benefit greatly from the extra year in college as most players would. But mainly, LSU and Staff are making the 4 year plan more appealing and worth it, unless you are a LF or some talent like that. Kwon probably could have benefited from another year with LSU, and I have seen him in "preseason", "preseason" making big plays, but I promise most rookies who come out get found on the the field and get smashed...
However, look at Beckham, Landry, and Mettenberger. Man did they benefit from their senior season. Jeremy Hill could have stayed, but he is obviously doing well.
I like how we are handling our players now. Chavis may be a good defensive coordinator, but he became lazy and just didn't care the last 3-4 years. Which in my opinion were significant years.

I think kwon made a good decision for himself. He's about to be the starting middle linebacker.

this is so funny because this used to be les's selling point
we haven't won a natty since he changed the emphasis (and since we had a QB developed by Jimbo and the tail end of Saban's overall talent)

Your hook is dazzlingly bright.

it's not a hook
when les shifted and went with the "3 year and out" pitch and team culture, it created a lot of instability. every program who takes that gamble ultimately ends up failing. it just makes it too difficult for every level of the team to fall into place at once.
we almost caught lightning in a bottle in 2011, but our major flaw (QB/passing game) did us in ultimately

did he really change philosophy or was it coincidental?
i dont think there is any differentiation( 3 yr guy vs 4 year guy) in football when you are recruiting kids. You just recruit the best kids. Some happened to leave early.

pretty sure it's well noted that it became a sales pitch to guys like patrick peterson and recruits after his class
it is such a meme that i made a thread on here a few years ago about how les miles' selling points have changed and people acted like we never kept guys here for 4 years (when it was our thing, outside of JR, until PP)
the massive wave of early entries wasn't just coincidence (unless you want to believe the conspiracy theories that the program had major turmoil after 2011 where the players turned on les and wanted to leave because of some drama)

I don't think Miles made it a point to change his emphasis. I think it just kinda happened. He points out guys who stayed for their senior year who've done well as selling points for juniors to stay.

im just saying, i dont think kids are coming out of HS knowing for sure they are only going to stay 3 years. i mean technically they can do that at any school, that doesnt make LSU any more alluring and sure doesnt seem like a selling point during in home visits. Seems like something you're dreaming up, jake.
i think guys leaving early is a combination of things. I dont think losing the way we did helped. Then grades, having kids, bad advice, etc.
would love to read more about it

Im usually one to bash Les, but he did make it to another NC with his own players. If he wasnt so stubborn, they may have had a chance to win that one.

And the reason we almost caught lightning in a bottle in 2011 was mainly due to all of the talent from the soph class in the secondary. And brockers and Mathieu had all world seasons
