See - we do agree on a few things.

While I agree with you to an extent, every single pro should have better technique when they're in the NFL than when they were in college. You're acting like its surprising that he's progressing. In the NFL you either progress or you lose your job.

I take it that this is a fundamental that should have been instilled in him while here. The fact that he's only now learning it reflects on the coaching he received here.

Thats why the 3 red shirts dont see the field. They are too high in their stances and get pushed all over the field. Its also why we dont get any push up the middle on pass rushes.

Haley was the D line coach for the Bears before coming to LSU. Ego progressing in the NFL is standard. He was a 2nd round draft pick after only one year of starting. Now he's playing against actual pros, not college players.

If Haley is know for anything, it's his strict belief in technique. That's why the three RS freshman have't seen much playing time. And why Godchaux has started. This D line would be better if Thomas hadn't gotten injured.

Haley should only get fired if next years D line isn't at least in contention for top 5 in the SEC. IMO they should be top 3. We have a lot of young players who will progress. The only upperclassman we have at DT hasn't been at full strength since before the season. As for the RS freshman. I want to remind people that a lot of players make the biggest jump in their second year of playing. Bennie Logan made huge progress going into his RS sophomore year, so did Brockers. Both are starting in the NFL and dominating.

Kind of like Saban not teaching cbs to back pedal? Come on. These coaches have 20 hours a week in cfb.

Yeah, it is impossible that Haley, a former pro coach and the DL coach for LSU doesn't know to tell his players to get low in their stance.

C'mon. Really?

But Ego was on the list of players who left early who shouldn't have according to many rantards.

ALL college players get better when they get to the NFL or they don't have a job. Sheesh, you act like this is an anomaly. College players are better than high school players and the analogy goes on and on. If Ego didn't get better in the pros that would worry me.

These are college kids, some not fully developed physically and they have school to deal with. NFL is a whole different ball game (pun intended).

I wasn't commenting on whether a player improves in the NFL. The prior post implied that Ego had a learned a new DL fundamental. I'm suggesting that Coach Haley should have taught him the fundamental here. Maybe he tried.

The all too-common song around here is that we sign talented DL but they rarely develop. That was Detillier's regular criticism of Freak - he never learned to use his hands.

You act as if this is an LSU thing. There are entire schools to teach QBs how to actually throw once theyve declared for the draft.

College coaches don't have time to break everything apart just to rebuild it. We needed Ego on the field, it's like a bloodhound, we just showed him a picture of the QB and said "go get this one."

But he's a luxury for the Bears, they can go step by step. That's just not the way college works (usually).

Brick Haley has failed. look at our d line they are not producing. they play way to high and their technique needs to improve.

we are getting players into the league because our plauers have talent and upside but need to be coached up-

IF you look at other teams so many of their players are getting double digit sacks, tackles behind the line of scrimmage they have insane amount of stats.

Look at South Carolina, Clemson, Missouri just to name few. Our coach should get our guys to produce like these teams have with our talent.

None of our guys produce the numbers on the D tackle position or Defensive Line position like the other teams and players they are not filling out the stat sheet-

To me it's obvious that not only are our defensive tackles not developing as the season progresses, it's the entire team. We started out hot last year and that was the best it got. Should have lost Arkansas game and Iowa win was blah. Most teams begin slow and get better. All I have seen since 1/9 is mediocrity. Coaches are not coaching up. That's why we are losing our players to the NFL early. They see it themselves.

we've played 3 genuinely great run teams, tremendous and experienced talent, and our starting tackles would have been 5th and 6th in the rotation this year if things had gone as planned.

has no one here ever played a sport? it takes time to improve. you can't just throw a guy in a microwave and get glenn dorsey 30 seconds later. you frickers might as well go boo a pilot for taking 4 hours to fly to LA.
