They are grooming Vadal for the guard position... That's why he isn't making the move.
ETA- look at the bright side. We will be stacked next year again... Faulk doesnt leave early now!

TEs will be crucial this game for that extra blocker, really hope we can exploit that down the middle in certain situations. Most of our RBs are strong blockers, this could bode well for the middle of the field against their LB's / SS.

So much for having the best O line in school history.

JD doesn't have to be an All American. He just needs to be serviceable with the backs we have. As long as he can do a decent job of holding his blocks we will be fine. I expect his technique and smarts to get him through pass blocking.

Would y'all go to fb war having dworczyakgf at LT with mett or Faulk at LT with Jefferson at qb?

I guess we really shouldn't be complaining about our schedule now. UW's D-line does not sound like it will pose more than a middle of the road test. As for Idaho, I think we will be dressing out people from the stands.

Unless he ends up being really good at tackle I'd imagine this is temporary, until a younger guy is ready to step in.

Looks in.....sees many people dissing a seasoned veteran who has grown leaps and bounds since 2009 and now possesses SEC OT size without the massive gut.....wait.....none of them have ever coached DI olinemen.........leaves due to invalid view points

You forgot to add he's already played T many times in practice and the reason he stayed at G is because he never looked good at T. Plus he's coming off bad legs. Yea, don't act surprised we're less optimistic on this move.
What I find more shocking is his backups aren't even getting the nod right now...so apparently our LT depth is pretty thin to move a G to T coming off a major injury.

Is Miles trying to get Mett killed? Terrible move, because Dworaczyk sucked at guard! Are we forgetting that?

No - as a senior with 26 starts, and experience at both guard and tackle, Josh D was very likely going to get the first look if anybody but a center went down. Again, Miles was an offensive lineman, as was Stud - they both shoot to have the best 5 on the field at the same time. I defer to the experts.

'09 - Ciron (projected as 1st rd pick) started at LT; JD started at LG
'10 - JD entrenched at LG; Barksdale moved from RT to LT
'11- JD out for the season
I don't think it was the case that he stayed at G because he didn't look good at T but that there was some outstanding talent already at T. IF Josh is 100% recovered from his injury I think he'll will excel at LT.

Center or right tackle. Sounds like they really love them some Vadal Alexander.

Chapter 1: Tackles and Guards - size has little to do with it. Ever seen a pulling tackle?
Chapter 2: Want your right-handed QB killed? Put in a red-shirt at LT.
Chapter 3: Old and smart vs. young and athletic. Why is this a no brainer?

Are you kidding me? Collins had several plays in the opener where he would pull, pancake a lineman and then lunge, pancaking a second level defender. Watch hilliards short td run.
Collins has the best feet on the line, sans Faulk.

Vadal would never play center. He is 6'6" 350.

No, he didn't.

I tried to watch him carefully. He looked to have an outstanding game. I'm very happy for him and excited to see the progression of this offensive line - the pass blocking was better tonight, and against better overall defensive talent, than against NT.
