Now THIS... This is some hard-hitting analysis that this board needs.

Take it as a joke but I know what you mean OP. I remember talking to Jarvis Jones when he came back home to Georgia after his LSU visit and all he could say was CLM didn't seem to be into or fire up the team.

There's a big difference. PM is always over-thinking every single situation and then overcoaching. He can't get out of his way. I'm not sure Les was processing things quickly enough in real-time to ever over coach the way that PM does.

The time to worry about how far the team will go will be at the beginning of the SEC tournament long b4 the regionals are announced. Plenty of time to sit back and enjoy college baseball.

Agreed, PM always has to control everything when at times a hands off, let the kids freaking play the game approach is best suited. Unless of course it comes down to bunting with a man on second and no outs, then he says to swing away.

I don't think Paul's dugout persona is much different from any baseball manager in college give or take a few extremes on both ends. It is not their job to get the team fired up that's what you have assistant coaches for. His job is to manage the game not get too high or too low and think out every situation.

I would think hiring a baseball coach would be difficult because many of them seem so damn boring. It seems to be more about the moves they make in the games that count, etc. PM seems to have issues with that too though.

exactly. Baseball's a slow burn, and there are long lulls between real action. Getting "fired up" doesn't really apply in baseball, not as it does in football and basketball.

Sure, you want your players to be focused and give max effort, but jumping around getting jacked up isn't as useful in baseball as it is for other sports.

Agreed...We should probably evaluate the water supply in the Coaches lounge. We definitely don't want this becoming systemic with our new guys.

I've heard plenty of Les pregame. He may be stubborn as all hell, but the players played for him. And Les just had the best stretch of recruiting in the history of the program. So somehow he kept getting guys fired up to sign with LSU.

If you're not bitching about the coaches, no matter the sport, you're not doing it right dgnx. Come on man, get with the program!
