That's a 16 hour drive. Not a chance in hell I would drive that.

I agree! 7 hours is about all I want to handle now. The drive up won't be bad, it's that freaking drive home that will be the killer. Last drive I made was from Thibodaux to Austin 2 years ago and that was a freaking haul!

Not my first road trip, but one of the guys has to be back on Monday. Not much we could do to avoid it, other than put him on a flight and send him home early. It sucks but we can split the drive between three of us.

11 of us drove from Madison to the Alabama game in Dallas last year, which is almost the same distance. We had enough planned out (stopping in Kansas City for BBQ, checking out the Sooner's stadium) that it ended up being pretty awesome. The highlight was putting a walkie talkie in each van to play 20 Questions, vehicle to vehicle. Of course, that's multiple drivers, all around 30 years old with no kids - your experience may be different.
I couldn't imagine doing that drive in one day, though.

I travel a lot for work. I've driven from Torrington, Wyoming to northeast Louisiana straight through and when I was in the military, I drove straight from San Diego to northeast Louisiana. I don't prefer it as much as I used to, but it's not completely foreign to me.

Lol, man...I'm too old to party. Never been a big drinker anyways, so we won't miss out on much.

I'm leaving from San Antonio on Tuesday, driving to my parents house in Louisiana, leave Wednesday am with my dad. Looking forward to the road trip. Meeting son in law in Chicago on Thursday, going to Cubs game Thursday night. Will be in Oshkosh Friday, have rented a cabin on a lake. Will check out local nightlife Friday night, head to Green Bay early Saturday am to check out college game day and tailgate somewhere before the game. After my Tigers dominate the Badgers, gonna head back to Oshkosh to catch the night games in a sports bar. Sunday am got a local fishing guide lined up to wet some lines. Will hang out the rest of the day and head home on Monday. Really looking forward to a nice long road tripwire my dad, we have been talking about it for 4 months now.

My wife and I took a 17-day driving trip to Syracuse game last year and then to Quebec. We really had fun.

We will drive to Wisconsin game, to the U.P of Michigan first, then drop south to Door County, WI, then west to Voyageurs National Park in MN and Lake Itasca, MN, then back through Iowa, MO, AR, and home to BR. August 26 through Sept 15.

Retirement has some great advantages.

You rent a house on Lake Winnebago?

UW-Oshkosh has a relatively high enrollment of nearly 14,000 and those kids can get after it. There are quite a few bars on Main Street. Students should be back, so the bars will be pretty fun that night.

That's a great trip. Have fun. Try and find a good fish fry place in Oshkosh for Friday. I'm guessing the locals will know where to go.

How's Lakefront Brewery? Saw it was ranked #4 tour in the US. Going to hit that up Friday when I get into Milwaukee. Is the boat tours pretty cool?

It's a good tour. For the price ($10), you'll get four 6-oz. pours and a pint glass.

I've done the boat tour once. It was fun as you ride through the Milwaukee River. Like other tour boats, there's a cash-bar.
