We are a small group (5) coming from away to Baton Rouge for the Bama game. We plan to come in on the night before the game (Friday).

From what I can tell, 3 of us will be coming in on highway 12 via Slidell, and the other 2 are coming from New Orleans on highway 10.

We came in on a Friday night a few years ago when Florida came to town and ran into a lot of traffic on the drive over from New Orleans.

Is this normal for Friday nights before big games?

What can we expect the traffic to be like heading to Baton Rouge on the Friday night?

There will certainly be traffic. I wish I could say it was limited to nights before big football games.

Im coming Friday around 1 for that game

Combine Friday work traffic with the amount of people coming for that weekend = Trafficmagedon

I am coming from Houston after work and am hoping it will all be clear by the time I get there at 11 o clock at night. It's taken me as long as 8 hours before just from traffic.

Also, you should check on "construction" zones which could make matters worse -- on I-10 there may be some near Siegen Lane -- on I-12 there may be some between Slidell and Hammond. Hopefully no lane closures on a Friday night.

I drive in from the Houston area for at least 3-4 games a season and the majority of the time leave in the afternoon and have never had a problem.
