Ok so I'm just thinking out loud, trying to pass the time until next Saturday...my thoughts were on drake Davis and his hands/route running( or lack there of) . Wouldn't this guy be unbelievable at safety ? 6'3 215, can cover ground like a freaking gazelle , can most definitely lay the wood. I mean I'm sure some would argue his talent might be wasted here but if he can't catch he can't catch. Sean Taylor 2.0? Also he could still return kickoff /punts and he could have a few packages on offense ala adoree jackson?

I wondered the same thing when he was being recruited, but he's been getting rave reviews in camp. Maybe his hands have improved.

Yea honestly I'm hoping he just gets better at being a complete receiver , but if we would continue having problems I feel his talent should not be wasted. He's possibly the biggest freak we have seen in years and that's truly saying something at da boot baby .

The kid is going to be a first rounder as a WR. He will be fine. Bowe struggled with his hands early on too. I know I know, he had eye surgery. My point is we haven't even seen Davis at WR yet and people think he can't play the position.

Saban once said that Michael Clayton could have been a first-round safety as well.

He is a game-breaker at WR and a guy I am most excited about.

Don't wanna get anybody's hopes up, but I expect to see him have a freshman year on special teams like Jarvis had (think decapitation of Auburn KO returner)!

I'm glad others think this as well. Davis is in my top 3 of guys from this class that I would bet end up as first rounders. Him, Fulton, and Lawrence. Obviously a lot has to happen, but if I had to choose 3.

Didn't OBJ have catching problems when first starting too? He worked harder than anyone though. Maybe some can learn and others can't.

No doubt he could have. Dude was a head hunter on special teams. Looks for Davis to do the same

He definitely did, at least his sophomore year. Also, Davis is an extremely impressive person. He seems like the kind of guy that will bust his arse to improve at his craft.

disclaimer: I promise I am not related to Davis.

No. He will be a force at WR. I wouldn't be suprised if by mid season coaches are figuring out how to get him the ball. Look for him to be a playmaker on ST's too

Drake davis reminds me a ton of TK Fleming athletically. Both just stupid athletic.

Saw this kid last fall at IMG vs Southern Lab

He has the size, speed, and hands of a first round pick.

With the kid coming in from st. Stanislaus next year Davis might be the best receiver to ever come out of LSU. Book it

I remember when Damien James flaked out and LSU had to eventually play Michael Clayton at Safety in that cotton bowl. He was laying the wood in that game and really showcased his talents.

Clayton was exhausted in that game.

Demaryius Thomas Is the most comparable NFL guy to drake Davis I believe. In terms of potential and comparable size and speed. He looks like a possession receiver but moves like a cheetah. Drake Davis may even be more athletic which is crazy . He also has great moves , lateral quickness for someone that big .It may sound stupid but you can almost tell he's a soccer player by the way he runs and moves.

No. Drake davis is a wide reciever and is a weapon with the ball in his hands. You don't put a player like that on defense.
