Frick. Hate that for him, his family, and the rest of the team.

This was pretty evident the second he went down. Something clearly popped.

Saw this coming, you don't go down that immediate without really wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised if this has been aggravating him for a while though, he was getting banged around pretty good this year.

I figured that was the case.

I hope the kid has a speedy and full recovery.

I was looking forward to him being a integral part of the bullpen this season.

Yeah, I guess everyone knew but was holding out hope. What I have always wondered with these sudden injuries to a pitcher. Is what caused it to just happen out of no where.

I was really pulling for Norman to be a guy who could get us through the lineup 1 time. His unique delivery can throw you off.

I kinda figured. Best of luck to him and hopefully a speedy recovery/rehab with no setbacks.

What?

He means like with most pitchers that have to have Tommy John, the muscle doesn't fully tear just on one pitch. It could have already been slightly torn, thus affecting his performance, he tries to power through it and the muscle finally can't take any more stress

sometimes, the pitcher lives with it the rest of his days.

Goodness...

First. It's not a muscle. It's a ligament. And no, there usually isn't a minor "tear" to that ligament prior to the "pop" or tear that requires surgery. Sometimes, you may feel it right before the pitch, like in this case, but usually it's immediate and out of nowhere.

In every case, it's very difficult to watch a pitcher blow his UCL on a pitch.

The hope for him now is that he's got good enough ligaments/tendons (I don't remember what the specific thing in the wrist they look for is) to act as a replacement UCL.

Uhhh, no

The UCL is most definitely not a muscle

why do people do that? Act like they know what they are talking about when they clearly dont....
