The guy is electric and a hell of a lot of fun to watch.

Guarantee that he would make a big step if he chooses to come back.

If someone transfers, so be it. Enjoy Daniel's while we have him.

Beating Bama is a big deal.

Because he only cares about himself is what this board says, and other coded reasons.

Morons. They want to run off as much talent as possible and turn over the QB reigns to an inexperienced erratic QB. The stupidity amazes me.

Because he’s a very limited as a passer and there will be a ceiling on the offense until we move on.

If he does come back, I hope he proves us all wrong and turns into a great passer, but I don’t see it.

The "coded" reasons for wanting Nuss are the same reasons they loved Bech and wished him nothing but love and admiration. Positive that if Boutte hit the portal it would have been just the opposite, hatred and ill will. This board is a disgrace and I pray recruits don't read it.

This is completely made up

He is objectively an overly cautious passer who struggles reading the field and making decisions and transferring the decision to his body making the throws. People are rightly frustrated with all the WR talent we have being underutilized.

Until he beat Bama, there were daily threads about how Daniels only cared about his stats.

I agree 1000%. The guy will be our very successful starter next year and it’ll be Walker Howard after that. That’s why Nuss will transfer. It’s not really rocket science to figure that out.

Daniels had a 3 game stretch where he was outstanding. No reason to believe he can't become more consistent with another year in the system. If he can come close to that stretch consistently, he'll be in New York next year for the Heisman ceremony.

Have you looked at our receiver room? If you want to be a 3 or 4 loss team then that would be the only reason to want Daniels back. We need a legitimate pocket passer with this receiver core.

They want him to go pro so they can get excited about a guy with a 55% completion percentage and more turnovers than TDs

Plus: when he has a good game, he carries the team.

Minus: he's a ball hog and too quick to keep it on the option.

I like the "good game" Daniels. I wish he would give it up more often to his backs & receivers, however.

It does not have anything to do with his ability. There is a fear of losing Nuss or Howard. There is nothing we can really do about that. The coach should go with the strongest player in his mind. There is a chance we lose one of them if not both. Greater chance we lose Nuss. I suspect we would have people lining up to come play qb if spots opened up. This so the new reality of the college game. our coaches cannot play weaker players just because we may lose them.
I do not like Denbrook and have said that before. We probably go with him and JD next year.
We should then be looking for more of what we want in a OC and qb coach for the future.

This is not guarantee. He has been a starter for 4 years.

Beating Bama is not the goal of the season.

Bottom line, Daniels is a fine QB, but the offense has a ceiling with him at QB. Winning a national championship is the goal at LSU. Does Daniels limit LSU from doing that? Im not sure, but I think it’s possible.

I wouldn't "guarantee" it, but I do expect Daniels to improve if he returns. Just my own observations, and my interpretation on both Daniels and Nussmeier...

Those who say Daniels is limited as a passer are wrong. He's got plenty enough arm to make the throws, and a good release.
I think Daniels reads the field, but is hesitant to frick up. He's got an almost certain 5+ yard gain (on scramble) built in, so he's cautious and careful with the ball. Too much so for lots of people here. And that does get him into trouble at times, when the opposing defense can cover AND put pressure while spying him.

I think Nussmeier has MORE arm, and he thinks he can complete passes through coverage. I don't think he reads the field well, he just slings it, and there's enough velocity on a lot of those passes that he CAN defeat good coverage.

The thing going forward:
With Daniels, you hope that with a year's familiarity in the offense, and with Boutte, Nabers, Taylor etc, he loosens up and lets the ball go more. There's every reason to think that will be the case, he should have trust in those guys next season.

With Nuss, you would hope he would learn to read the field more, and not just let the ball rip into double coverage "because I got the arm to do so".

My personal take on this, Daniels is safer, and closer to where we want him to be, than Nussmeier is. That's why Kelly chose him to start. I could see Daniels improving his statline by 30 yds a game passing, I'm not as confident that Nussmeier would become a lot more frugal with the ball.

YMMV
