This is the system more than the players on the field IMO.

I agree - While winning against UF and UK was great, the real tests are upcoming. They will be the real measure of what this team and staff are.

I'm sorry but Jennings looked bad last night as well, having a "game manager" is saying u don't have a QB.... Harris should start and play...Jennings will prob look just as bad as Harris did vs auburn against ole miss and Bama ....but Harris has the talent. He needs to play and play a ton. I think we do better vs ole miss and Bama than we did vs auburn but the problem will still be there at QB. Weaknesses really stick out vs quality teams....this you will see soon. (As if we haven't already )

I haven't seen any. But that's besides the point. Coach thinks he can win running his O against good teams. Next two games will put his theory to the test. If we get beat like MS ST and Auburn, the writing will be on the wall. If we beat them and end this season with 2 losses, a bunch of us will have to eat some crow. I know what I think is going to happen, but I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Agree.

I would bet almost anything that Jennings starts at least 20 more games for LSU and that he is below average and boring in most of them. He is not a good QB and LSU will just be an average team. Harris could be great with practice and playing time, which he will not get. He might transfer. It would not suprise me.

Wait...WUT???????? You put Jennings in the same category as Cam???? You really are stupid...............

Did you really just pull the word Newton out of all that without reading? First of all, I wasn't even referring to Jennings, second of all, I was referring to QBs that had less experience as sophomores, than Harris has as of right now.

Come on old man, you can do better than that.

What leads you to this conclusion? What is one more offseason with no meaningful PT going to do? We've shown QB's don't develop in our system. How is he going to develop enough to beat out a guy with such a long leash?

He has more talent than Jennings, his problem is that he doesn't know the playbook and is raw, which is the main reason why coaches don't like to start true freshman. Now if he was better than Jennings right now, I'd see your point, but he is not.

Also, Cameron is here and he is known by highly regarded coaches, as a QB guru. We didn't have a QB coach from 2007-2012. We have one now. Stop looking in the past at this situation. There will be a QB competition in the spring and possibly fall. I honestly believe that Harris will show enough to beat out Jennings.

But what if he doesn't? Connor Cook took until the last two games of last year before he looked like he improved at all. Mett improved over the bye week in 2012. Sometimes, all it takes is one game. Yes, it is frustrating right now, but it's part of the process.

I wish Les would have taken advantage of the huge lead last night and actually try working on things that we struggle with. Its the right decision that Jennings is starting right now, but if Les ever wants Harris to develop and get better, he will need experience more then anything. To be honest, the guy needs confidence from his coaching staff more then anything. The staff literally rips confidence out of every quarterback we have had over the years, aside from Mett. The next two games will be telling

nah. it likely won't work that way. individual athletic performance is up and down.

c'mon man. you frame this as a "fans vs HC" battle. I swear some people may be clamoring for Harris just because Miles is starting Jennings. the "fans" have zero input in who starts any position. sorry to bust your bubble.

LSU obviously has a bad starting qB. Miles had the opportunity to work in Harris and he did not. Miles is stubborn and will stay the course no matter what. Which games have you been watching this year? What happened in 2011? Did you not see what he did when JJ was no longer suspended? What about his game plan in the NC game? How much different was it then to what we see now? Miles homers, Harris will not finish at LSU. But he may win the NC at Auburn or another school. If you were a qB where would you prefer to play ball?

Playing Jennings gives you limited offense. Last week, Miles said he couldn't find an opportunity to play Harris, last night he could have played Harris much earlier than the 4th quater. Miles constantly says we play the players that give us the best chance to win, he has never followed his own advice. If you think Jennings gives us the best chance to beat both Ole Miss and Alabama, you have the Les Miles glasses on. Everyone around me in the stadium last night were talking about Jennings inadequacies.

As so many have said, Harris will start next year, I think he needs to play in every game to build his confidence. I personally think Jennings is the starter and will continue to be the starter in the foreseeable future.

Harris will not start again until Jennings gets hurt or graduates.

What, in les miles history as a coach, would ever make you think he would make changes midway through any players qb career?
The only reason lee ever started was because JJ wanted to be a thug and got suspended.

To Les miles, seniority matters more than talent. Not saying that Harris will definitely surpass Jennings, but let's be real. Jennings is the qb until he graduates or gets hurt.

The light came on for Mett after the bye week, in case you forgot.

No... the light came on for Mett in the offseason when we hired Cameron. This is Jennings 2nd year with Cameron and nothing has changed from the Iowa game to now. And thats just necuase he doesnt have that much talent or potential to improve. Hes near or at his ceiling. And he doesnt have near the talent or arm that Mett did.

And no Im not saying give Harris the reins now. Im content with Jennings as the QB right now. He has better control that Harris does right now. But its not like hes doing things that Harris cant do. Like you said, hes throwing 16 pass attempts per game.... and only completing 50% of that. Hes not efficient. We wont be opening up the passing attack with Jennings at QB and he would struggle even more than he is now if we opened it up. Hes not accurate, he doesnt have a big arm, he struggles with his reads and progressions. Hes just not that good.

We beat 2 bad teams in UF and UK. Sure UK is on the rise and UF is still UF... but they are not good teams. We won, and im pumped we won dont get me wrong. But we didnt win because of Jennings. We won because of our rushing attack and our D stepped up vs UK. And Jennings connected with Dural for 41yards late in the 4th, but he was wide open due to a missed assignment on UF.

Look at our receiving leaders from the past 2 games...

vs. UF. Jennings was 10/21 (47.6%) for 110yards(and had like 50yards until the middle of the 4th) - Melvin Jones - 4 recs, 19 yards. Quinn - 3recs, 31 yards. Dural - 2recs for 52 yards (43 on that blown assignment). Dupre - 1rec, 8 yards.

vs. UK . Jennins was 7 / 14 (50%) for 120yards. Magee -3recs for 44yards. Dural - 2recs for 39yards. Dickson - 1rec for 27yards. Hilliard - 1rec for 10 yards.

Our leader in receptions the past 2 games was our fullback and then our RB. Dural has the most receptions from a WR these past 2 games... with a whopping 4 catches. Hell... he was the only WR to catch a ball last night.

And its not like we have played a lot of really good teams with really good defenses and Jennings has struggled... hes struggled vs everyone, regardless if they are a cupcake team, OOC opponent, SEC opponent. Hes been the same QB regardless who we play. His best game completion percentage wise was vs ULM... where he had a 61.1% completion percentage... thats his best game. He hasnt gotten above 53.8% besides that game. Take that game away, and Jennings completion percentage is 48.1% on the season....

And again... Im not saying Harris should be starting and playing every snap right now. Jennings has better control than he does. But lets not act like Jennings is not bad. Because he is and consistently has been and doesnt have much / any room to improve. Plus, we havent played too many legit teams and Jennings has still been bad vs bad teams. And we are about to go up against some good teams these next few weeks. Teams that can take away Dural and make it hard for us to run the ball. Not too confident in Jennings against these quality teams coming up.

I'm saying that. Anthony Jennings is a serviceable backup QB. He cannot beat a team if the running game is not working. He's a good system QB against rent-a-wins and teams without good defenses, like Kentucky. Against a credible defense, like Ole Miss and Bama, we will see what we saw against Miss State and Auburn and the first half of Wisconsin when Jennings was at the helm. LSU cannot win the SEC West this year but we may have enough talent to making a national championship run in 2015 and 2016. That's what we should be playing for. Take some lumps with Harris perhaps, but get us in a position to have two years plus of a QB with a rocket arm and moxy.
