9 games in a row is a very demanding task, especially with visits to two of the most intimidating sites in the sec. auburn and florida will both be playing with a chip on their shoulder. our last game before the bye is ole miss and we always have trouble with them. so can lsu make it to 9-0?

Slow your roll. There is much football to be played.

Things change over the course of a season but I don't see it right now.

A better question is whether we can 2 out of 4 from MSU, AU, Florida and Ole Miss.

I expect we will be 7-2 playing Bama.

I think we make it to the bye undefeated honestly.

I hope not, but I think we drop the Auburn and Florida game.

Highly unlikely, but not impossible. It's still too early to predict. That 4 game stretch is treacherous and after all this is the SEC.

No.

We'll drop 2 of 3 against Auburn, Florida, and Ole Miss.

Based on what?

Let's take the easy one. Auburn is going to put up 38-45 on our defense. That no huddle, hurry up offense is going to wear out our thin and medicore defensive front. Yes, we have a great secondary but Auburn's WRs are the truth and whatever QB they play is very good.

On offense, we only mustered 28 against an okay defense. Auburn, State, Florida and Ole Miss all have superior defenses to Wisconsin and in particular have the depth to overcome an injury or two.

You may think I am being negative but I'm being realistic. On defense, we are playing a bunch of guys as starters who should be depth players and a bunch of guys as depth players who should be redshirted. On offense, our line has not yet mastered Jeff Grimes' blocking schemes and we have an inaccurate QB. Auburn is the best team in the West right now. Ole Miss is a year ahead of us in terms of experience. Miss State has the best defense they have had in 25 years and a stud at QB. Florida is intriguing. To think these young bucks are going to win all four of those games is totally unrealistic.

We don't know what our defensive ceiling is yet. We had a couple of contributor out this game and we have time to get the others headed in the right direction. The secondary looks great. I think we will be much improved up front over the next few games.

None of Bain, Gilmore or Herron played, but only Bain was officially suspended. There is some speculation that Herron was being disciplined too (which I hope is the case). No one knows what is up with Gilmore. But if he couldn't get PT after watching THAT DL performance, I'm not sure he will be a factor this year. Let's just hope and pray that Herron was suspended and the media never found out about it.

Right now, we have a top notch secondary, good OLBs, okay DEs, and we're below average up the middle.

One game at a time, Chief. That's true every year, but it is especially true this year. LSU needs to improve at home over the next two weeks against two "lesser" opponents that are better than a lot of people around here think. If they can work out the kinks over the next two weeks and allow the crazy number of underclassmen that we have to continue to gain game experience, then they will be ready for MSU. If they get by MSU, then they should be fine until that little Auburn/Florida road trip. I actually like LSU in the Swamp, mostly because Florida will be coming off of a two-week road swing including a trip to Tuscaloosa. The AU game could be trouble. If LSU beats Auburn, I have them running the table.

So, to answer your question, I'm going to say that it depends a great deal on the MSU game. If they've progressed enough to beat the Bulldogs in Tiger Stadium, then I'll go out on a limb and say that they make it to 10/26 undefeated. If they lose to Moo State, they may very well have 3 losses.

This is one year that I'm happy that we have several "easy" games early. These next two opponents are teams that will give the Tigers a good test without any great threat of a loss. The schedule sets up extremely well for what this team needs.

NO..... They will be very good team... They will lose to either FLA or AU...

LSU was impressive with the comeback, but if they were playing anyone who could have matched depth with them they would have lost... A& M would have done the same thing[or close] to LSU that they did to USC.....

our defense will be far deeper than it was against wisconsin in the coming weeks. we get 3-4 more quality players to provide depth.. and we also get two starters back.

that was the least deep DL you'll see LSU trot out this season
