That’s not what I said. I explained the logic. It’s a 4 team double elimination. Most people wanted to save Skenes to face the toughest opponent instead of the easiest. So it’s certainly not the same but the logic is similar. Do you save Skenes for the toughest opponent?
It's not even close to the same thing.
The argument wasn't JUST to save him for the perceived toughest opponent. It was also because they felt like the % chance to beat Tulane would still be comfortably high against Tulane.
Those odds to win would be completely different against a CWS opponent

CJJ is going to start Skenes. The WF game is first, though. If they win, and your opponent (USM/UT) has to pitch off because they both pitched their 1s today, then I’d save Skenes. If the goal is to win the national championship, I think it’s the best opportunity…to play WF with Skenes.

You look real dumb if you save Skenes for game 2 and lose game 1.

Maybe so. I know CJJ won’t do it so it’s a moot point. But in theory, if our No. 2 cannot beat the No. 2/3 of a directional Mississippi school, then it wasn’t going to happen anyway. I get both sides.

Save your ace for game 2 in the CWS?

We not talking some 4th seed regional opponent who just make the field because of winning a conference tournamet.

No. Think beyond even the first few games. Throwing Skenes in the first game means he can pitch again sooner.

Not a chance in hell Skenes doesn't pitch game 1 Saturday night. And pitching Skenes game 1 is 100% the right decision.

If Tenner wins, we see Dollander.

USM? Hall.

Either way, you have to go w/ Skenes

Hurd will be on 12 days rest. I say you start him against USM/Tenn and save Skenes for the next game so he gets a full week.

If not for the fact we don’t play at home, we don’t play one of the last teams invited to the tournament, and you don’t have to prepare for one weekend, but two weekends, you would be right. Now, if you’re saying it’s a 2 L tournament, well, that’s right.
