I'm a fan of the 18 tradition, but number 7 is no tradition. That was just Tyrann wanting to follow in pp7 footsteps.

I agree for the most part...but some recent and upcoming recruits have latched on the #7 fame/infamy (for lack of a better description) in large part to the on-field success of PP and TM. Like it or not, the #7 *does* mean something to them. A certain segment of fans might not give a frick, but let's not pretend that the number means *nothing* in regards to LSU's pull with top ranked defensive recruits.

This is why it's important: Pp7 last year after we beat a&m he carried mathieu on his shoulders and passed the number down to him. Next year he's a heisman finalist. That's how traditions start. #dbu
