Does 10 wins including bowl game mean anything anymore?

Obviously Saban made the comment on the accomplishment, and LSU has the opportunity for 10 wins with a win over Purdue, but question is does 10 wins have the significance of indicating a great season like it did in years past, especially after the opt out of bowl game years when the bowl game gave you the 10th win.

Imo no question is this a successsful year for LSU and they greatly over achieved…that’s pretty undeniably. I mean who would have thought LSU would be in the SEC championship and top 5 at the end of the regular season. The future is definitely bright.

That said is the 10 win season as prestigious as it used to be?

I does for me. Then again I watch LSU because I enjoy seeing them play and really enjoy seeing them win. So every win is good to me.

It’s doesn’t mean as much as it use to, but its better to have 10 than less.

For LSU this year, given preseason expectations, I think it would be a significant milestone.

Better than 8 and a bowl win. Imagine it means something to the players?

People used to make a big deal of 10 wins back when Miles was coach but that was mainly LSU people and it was at a time where that was pretty much our ceiling so we had to convince ourselves it meant something.

But this year it would mean we’ve drastically improved in just one season and possibly put ourselves on track to be part of the championship conversation in the near future. Can’t wait to see what next year brings.

It means something to me. I love watching LSU football. The season goes by so incredibly fast.

You get so excited for football to start and then before you know it, the last game has been played.

If you have a 10 win season only prudes and negas are pooing a bowl win.
Was 2018 actually only a 9 win season? How about 2000, 2001.
I bet you count bowl losses to suit your agendas, but history books count all wins and losses.

No, because more games are played now than in the past. We only played a 10-game regular season through '69. The scheduled was expanded to 11-games in '70. And then to 12-games in '04 (?).

Not sure why all the down votes in the OP. Pretty benign question IMO.

It will be a 14 game season. Most teams get 12 or 13 with a bowl. I think that is as significant as 10 wins in a 12 win season.

It is sad when 6-6 or even 5-7 is celebrated with a bowl invite. Wish there were fewer bowls, but will never happen thanks to money
