Do you think he knew this day would come back when he chose to take this job? I ask this because I’m not that entrenched on knowing the exact dates of the investigation start date and his hire date- I’m asking as someone who just knows the allegations range up to 2019 and he was hired in April of 2019. Do you think he accepted this job knowing he would have to deal with this shite sooner than later

Of course he did. Wade was suspended when he was hired.

He certainly knew there was a cloud hanging over Will Wade. I'm guessing a guy as calculating as Scott did his homework and knew that he would eventually have to do exactly what he did today.

100% he knew. He will hire a great basketball coach and I really think everyone will be praising this dude as the best AD at LSU ever in about 5 years.

People are shittting on him and I think that’s completely unfair. SW absolutely loves LSU and I think he did know. I think he took this job knowing he was going to have to be “the bad guy” at some point and make the decision he made today. He knew these allegations held water.

What makes you say this? The historical basketball success that LSU has put out? The resources and money LSU dumps into the basketball program? His previous hires of Buzz Williams, and that joke of a coach at Washington?

Again this is me asking because I don’t know the timeframe. Was he the ad when they renegotiated WW’s contract?

Never hired a basketball coach at Washington.

Buzz Williams was a good hire. He’s taken a minute to get going at A&M but he has 3 Sweet 16 appearances and an Elite 8 appearance. That’s a good resume.

The closest dates I could find were

Will Wade revised his contract around April 14, and Scott Woodward was hired at LSU April 17th. So extremely close timeline there to say the least.
He obviously had to have an idea of things, but to what extent? I’m not sure. Also I don’t think it would have prevented him from coming here even if he did know the full extent of Wade. I say this all as a Wade guy too. Situation sucks arse.

Point still remains the same. Williams wasn’t a bad hire by any means, but LSU fans will be hammering the guy 3 years from now if he gets hired, and is held to the same standards Wade was held to.

What exactly is wrong with Buzz Williams' resume, relative to where he has coached?

And Woodward never hired a men's basketball coach at Washington.

Sammy beat me.

People just less than a month ago, on the Rant were saying how bad of a hire his last was at A&M. So have we done a 180 on that, or our our fans just stupid? Probably both.

Listen, I was a Wade guy. This sucks. I hate The offfield bullshite derailing this train.

But Thr allegations are not only shocking , but pretty much show the NCAA has us pretty good. There are Level I violation allegations where they are quoting text messages. Do you think they don’t have those text messages they’re quoting? Do you think they don’t have the bank statements they’re talking about?

Wade’s ducked. Every coach cheats but he did t cheat well enough.

They clearly had a whistle blower. If it is the ex fiancé mentioned in the NOA, they are using information she obtained from Wade while committing a crime.

The text messages quoted actually constitute extortion. Pretty funny, the NCAA is going after Wade using evidence gathered by someone who extorted him.

Everyone knew. FBI tap on line one. Surprised he lasted this long. Hire pitino or Sampson. Cheating isn’t cheating anymore.

He walked in to an active investigation where Wade was basically ‘pleading the fifth’

The allegations run up until July of 2020. If he didn't know when Wade was recruiting Cisse he should have.

He has pulled Kelly, Johnson, and Mulkey. Buzz is looking better and better. They may lose today in day 4 straight...but they are playing great team basketball on both ends. My only concern is how much damage Wade will end up doing to the program in terms of sanctions. That'll be a big deterrent most likely. Your boy blew it. He was an idiot.

Scott 1000% knew. He even worked this situation into an automatic extension clause for his contact. Yesterday was a good day for Woody, got two more years added onto his deal.
