However, I still don't see us being great next year. If we could land a stud SG that could score at will, then we'd be in a better spot.
Do you follow recruiting at all?

Amazing note on Coach K at Duke (see my post above) is that his last season at Army his team went:

9-17

And Duke hired him and stuck with him.
Legend.

I'd take that bet in a heartbeat. TJ is getting another year.

I was giving somebody a chance but TA suggested that I just burn it.

I think he should stay no matter what. I like how he presents himself and his team and think "class" is important. Yes he needs to win too, but he has done things the right way IMO and another year makes sense to me.

I still don't think that will make us "great". But it will make us better.

You can't control group think and the herd mentality.

I just thought it was a more efficient means of giving/losing your money.

The guy is Dale Brown 2.0. He is a terrific salesman of his program to both players and fans. LSU needs a guy who is larger than life to pack the PMAC. Pearl got UT to the NCAA tourney 6/6 seasons.

I'm not TJ's keeper. This is not to imply that I had, have, or will have anything to do with his demise.

And he cheated before Tenn and at Tenn. No thanks. If it comes to finding a new coach down the road we can find someone without the NCAA baggage. How about kelvin sampson?

The only thing he has been punished for is lying about a BBQ.

I guess that's the only reason he's not coaching at tenn anymore or anywhere else for that matter. You would think his success would have attracted a team already.

Tj has done enough in Aleva's mind to secure his job next year. I said last year he needed to play 500 in the SEC and that he will do

The question is whether or no Aleva will give him another contract extension or a new contract at season's end

What say Ye?

He has a show cause till 2014. No school will hire him till then. The NCAA was out to get Pearl just like they were out to get Brown. Neither punishment fit the crime.

He committed additional infractions after. I can quote wikipedia just as easily as you:

After finding out about additional NCAA violations, as well as a violation of the school's substance abuse policy by a player, Tennessee fired Pearl on March 21, 2011.[12][13] On August 23, 2011, Pearl was given a three-year show-cause penalty for his unethical conduct in lying to the NCAA. This means that the sanctions imposed on Pearl will remain in force if he is hired by an NCAA member school within that period. Specifically, he is prohibited from engaging in any "recruiting activities", which means he cannot contact recruits, although he may evaluate talent during that period. if a school does choose to hire him and chooses to challenge the NCAA restrictions, it must appear before the NCAA Committee on Infractions and "show cause" for why the sanctions imposed on Pearl should not follow him to that school.[9] In imposing the penalty, the NCAA said that while Pearl's actual violations were not egregious, his lies elevated the case to a major one.[14]

This season? Probably not, if they do it'd be another 1 year thing through 2014 imo. If they have a good/great year next year like some expect then you give him the 4-5 year extension plus a small raise. (He's already making what $1.3M?)
