I hope you're right. It could. This will be a telling game, as you've said.

If we get to 6, I think it'll have to be against Ole Miss, Florida, and UT, and all of those games are on the road.

We'll be lucky to win one game on the road, much less three. Arkansas and A&M at home are more likely if the team doesn't collapse after the Bama game.

If we don't beat Florida, we likely lose 2 of the next 3 (Auburn, Ole Miss, Alabama), leaving us with a 4-5 record at best. Don't know what keeps the players even interested at that point

This staff hasn't been able to keep the players interested when it was 2-0, or 2-1, or 3-1.

I think the defense could get better, but this offense is still a train wreck. If the defense picks up I think LSU wins only 2 more games. The Florida game this weekend should dictate how much hope the fans should have for a bowl game.

doubtful unless we go as a 5-7. Can't see more than 2 wins out of this team the rest of the way and if i had to bet on it i would take the under even on 2.

I agree, I dont see another win on the schedule, thats why i think the heat will get even hotter as the season goes for Alleva.

have we played a full game yet with the lineup that was expected at beginning of the season?

if we had lost to State on the last play of the game and then had a sluggish win last week that would be one thing, but a couple of players, even good ones, is not the difference between being a good team and looking as abject as we have for 90% of the last 3 games.

Well we saw how they reacted to the adversity of the Mississippi State loss, they came out and looked like complete garbage against Syracuse save a couple of plays.

Alleva should be fired no matter what the W-L record ends up being. Just on principle for the stupid contract with O

I doubt this team wins three more, but you never can tell.

The hopeful scenario is that we return two stud dlinemen for Florida and one more the following week. This cures our defensive problems, and our offense starts to get the ball back four plays after giving it up. The increased opportunities yields offensive results as the team learns Canada's system better.

That's the hopeful scenario. I think the more likely scenario is that the pressure of failure greatly increases the strain on a head coach who simply is not fit for it. O cracks, the team is dispirited, blowouts ensue.

I know...I am not saying we won't stink up the joint again, but I want to give the team a chance while major goals are still technically attainable.

1. Can you or anyone explain to me what it looks like to "give the team a chance"? Does it include ignoring the dumpster fire occurring before my very eyes and blindly putting faith in a coach who has never turned a program around to now turn a program around?
2. How do you define "major goals"?

Florida? I mean, I hope so but Ole Miss, Tennessee, Arkansas/A&M are the must wins, IMO.

in the context of this thread, it means I will have a better idea of our bowl chances after this weekend's game.

sure, why not? what is there to lose?

winning the SEC West is still attainable...is it not? Far fetched, based on first five games, but still in reach.

Fair enough. I feel like I've seen just about all that is necessary to make a determination.

I guess I just don't get the point in lying to myself about who Orgeron is. I saw it with my own eyes at Ole Miss and I'm seeing it again now. Is he a decent "rah rah" kind of guy who can take another coach's team for 7-8 games and not run the whole thing into the ground? Sure. But that's where his value ends as a head coach.

Just get SEC west champions out of your head. Tom Petty has a better chance of performing in the Saenger tonight than us winning the west.
