So not winning the West is good? Almost four years into his tenure with no hardware to show for it would be good?

Not saying I’m happy not winning the west but Bama is so far ahead of us right now, I do t know how you can complain if we finish 2nd.

Maybe my expectations of O are so low that for him I think 10-2 is almost overachieving

I call it O inheriting a team with zero offensive line and an offense with a true losing mentality

So he made a longtime assistant in that offense his OC.

It shouldn’t put him on the hot seat but it certainly doesn’t earn him the amount of praise he would get from some people. Also depends how we look against Alabama. We need to start looking like we belong on the field with them while having the same level of talent.

I thought people would at least wait until the last week of August to start hedging their bets on the defensive line coach. They have no confidence that he'll lead this team to the playoffs.

Best Bama and I can probably suffer through an otherwise shitty season.

In most seasons the line between success and failure is vague.. this season, it’s crystal clear- 9-3 or below is failure, 10-2 or above is success.. If those two losses are to UT and Bama, it’ll be disappointing b/c i reeaaally want at least one of those- but win every other game plus a bowl, and CEO stays around, and continues to gather fan and admin support for his program. Plus he gets even more highly-touted recruits.

I say fire him. I'm not firing him on this season. But assuming both losses are to SEC west opponents, his whole body of work over the 3+ years is no better than the coach we fired.
I think he is 11-5 in SEC as head coach and 15-7 since he took over.
.688 and .681 just doesn't cut it in my opinion.
It's simple, win the west or make the playoffs this year.

Nah but 9-3 should get warm and 8-4 should be like a volcano

With this setup? Yeah it would be disappointing.

Auburn fans are ready to run off Gus Malzahn and he went 10-2 with a SEC West Title in year 5. He also won the SEC in year 1.

Let's go ahead and stop pretending like it's some anomaly. Thanks.

IMO, alabama under Nick Saban is the best college football program and HC in SEC history. For LSU to win the SECW, we must beat that top alabama program. It certainly is possible, but the bams are gonna hafta make some bad mistakes like the other SEC games they have lost in the last 3-4 years.

Neither our offensive line nor our defensive line measures up to what bama has. Until that happens, it will always be an uphill battle versus alabama.

Wasn’t O hired to do what Les couldn’t?
That's what we were sold, when Les was fired- it was time for a new approach and new blood, so the program could take that next step again.

Hiring O shouldn't change the demands. If you don't think he's the right man to lead LSU to the playoffs, you shouldn't have hired him, and by the Les Miles standard, you should move on from him.

10-2 in the SEC West is a great year. As you said they could lose a well played game against Bama and a close one at UT or Florida with a bad bounce, fumble, etc. when the coaches had them where they needed for the win.

I hope they do one better at 11-1. You have to beat Bama to go 12-0 and I think Clemson gave everyone hope (well not everyone) and put a lot of doubt in Bama as they got their asses handed to them. Hopefully they start to lose some steam and other teams catch up to them

And they tried to fire him less than 4 years after losing the title game.

Almost everyone was in agreement it was time. So how long does O get to even get there?

Ehh there were like 17-18 olinemen on the roster when he took over. It wasn't like there were none.
