Do some of you really think a 10-2 reg season should put O on hot seat?

I think some people on this board greatly underestimate the amount of things in football beyond a team or coach’s control. A bad bounce, an incredible play by opposing player, etc, it often times culminates into losing a tossup game.

10-2? In the SEC West? If anybody think that makes a hot seat, I doubt they're dumb enough to admit it. But I guess we'll find out...

10-2 is fine. It should be the floor though. Another 3 or 4 loss season and it might be time for him to be pushed out

If LSU does not go 12-0 the new LSU AD should call Saban and offer him $50 a game to come coach at LSU again

losing 2 regular season games without significant injuries or an injury to burrow would be underachieving. hot seat? no.

No...

I think Most think that would be a good season.

Provided we win the bowl game or play in the CFP (unlikely)

if he can't do it this year, when will we have those expectations?

he was gifted a good, potentially great QB due to luck

it will be a few years before we can expect that again

we returned some key seniors (DL!) and have a potential elite edge guy back next year

we return a ton of our OL

Don’t you know that O is the only coach in the country who could maybe have to deal with injuries or adversity?

No! 10-2 didn’t put Miles on the chopping block. His pig headedness and stagnant offense did

Oh there’s several people on here who believe 10-2 is a “disappointing season”. If we go 11-2 with a playoff or high bowl berth and win, nothing is happening to O

That would probably mean we had 2 losses out of Alabama/Texas/Texas A&M/Florida. 3 of those 4 will be top 10 teams to start the year.

Miss State and Auburn aren’t pushovers by any stretch either.

I don't see anyone saying hot seat for 10-2.

But at some point, if you're a special coach, you have to do something special. Winning 11 games isn't easy. No one said it was.

That said, if this coach can't do it, that's fine. It'll just mean he's not a special coach. If he fails to do this, you guys can't keep saying that he's got us on the track to be special. He has his opportunity this season to prove it. He'll either get it done or he won't. No more excuses. It can't be about catchphrases and bluster forever.

10-2 is fine as long as I don’t hear anymore shite about how it’s everyone else’s fault and Miles’s players and the players aren’t good enough and all that jazz

and as long as we put up something of a fight against Bama

youre stupid if you believe anything but losses got miles fired.

downvote all you want but its stupid to think losing 3 and 4 games while throwing the ball instead of being a ball controlled power run team wouldve let miles keep his job.

How many tossup games has LSU had against bama since Jan of 2012? Though bama has won every single game, they have not dominated each contest. At least 3 games LSU could have won had they made 1 or 2 plays that they failed to execute. This season, 2019, LSU has an experienced team with most starters returning off a 10 and 3 season. 10 and 2 with another loss to bama won't put O on the hot seat, but it will be warm. People have had enough of losing these 'tossup' games. NO more excuses. For years LSU's offense was bland and predictable. For years LSU's defense was counted on to keep the games close. Now, LSU has some very good players on offense and they have an offensive coach that has implemented an offense that isn't bland, isn't predictable. If O cannot get it done this season, even with a 10 and 2 record, the seat will be warm.

^^This is the correct answer.

10-2 with the talent LSU has (or is capable of having) is not a “good season”. It’s not a terrible season either and I’m not saying that LSU should never go 10-2. It’s gonna happen from time to time.

The reason some on this board think 10-2 is a “good season” is they have the opinion that we “should be getting beat by Bama most of the time”. They have the belief that Bama is “vastly more talented” than LSU and do they are automatically checking off one loss on the season.

That’s just not the case. There is zero excuse for them to have an 8 game winning streak against LSU. In the last 8 games, we should have been able to win at least 3 of them and possibly even 4.

11-1 is a good season, however, that one loss should not ALWAYS be to the same team.

If he loses 3 SEC games again, his seat will be burning.

Now that would be a laugh firing a coach for going 10-2 and good luck finding a top-tier coach to replace him.

He wouldn't be on the hot seat, but I think the fan base would be rather hopeless at that point. With the amount of returning talent that we have this year, combined with the extremely favorable schedule, you have to ask...if not now, then when?
