He went 8-5 after the season we beat Illinois 47-34 in the Sugar Bowl.

The Great and Powerful Saban went 8-5 in 2002 after we won the SECC...Our offense was pretty bad that year, Toefield went down, Mauck went down, and James quit the team.

You are so desparate to bash Saban and defend Miles that you are now chaning history. It's hiliarious how many people on here hate Saban so much that they have convinced themselves he is a poor coach. Further they have convinced themselves that Miles is the greatest coach this side of Vince Lombardi.
For the record Saban went 9-3
losses at Auburn 10-9 (Auburn finished undefeated #2 in the country)
at UGA (Got blown out, poor performance)
CapOne Bowl Iowa (Nice comeback made a horrible mistake at the end of the game and lost on a hail mary)

oh so he only went 9-3 and had a 8-5 season didn't he have a four loss season in there too.
I know he is a great coach, my point is miles has had a much better run until this year and he is seen as mediocre coach while saban is the best coach ever!!!!!

Yes it takes a special coach to take a national champ to 7-5 the next year.
Hasn't been done in 60 years...amazing job.
