I was at that game. Gilligan put together some nice teams. I used to go to a lot of the games when I lived there.

Not sure what the "controversy" was, but seems like when the Lamar and Texas played in the NCAA's in either 1984 or 1985 there was some call/play that Lamar screamed about and was mentioned for years in the rare NCAA baseball telecasts off and on.

Dennis Dresdan, catcher for Lamar, clearly tagged out Texas 2b Bill Bates, but Longhorns got the call. I used to work with Dennis.

Lamar is down this year, but they have beaten Baylor twice and Rice once this year. They've also lost to some pretty bad teams.
