I don't recall any.

Odd to have 12 hits with them all being singles

not with this team. I feel like we have had less xb hits this season than ever before. Especially the first 9 or so weeks

and no this is not a complaint. Love this team and how hard they work. Just making an observation.

I realize that and I'm not complaining, just making an observation. I can't remember a game in which we've had this many hits with them all being singles

With the field at the CWS, this is a good thing.

I don't recall any. Jordan's hit to RF that MSU botched was called an error I believe

This team is built for Omaha more than any team since they moved to the new park.

It seems like it, but we're not far off most years' pace.

Extra base hits per game last 5 seasons:
2016: 2.63
2015: 3.33
2014: 2.73
2013: 2.80
2012: 2.46

I can't recall the last time we put one in a gap. It seems all the extra base hits come from down the lines. Not complaining, but it'd be nice to see one crushed in a gap the couldn't get tracked down.

Florida this year is built for Omaha with their pitching. Reminds me of the 2013 UCLA title team

There was only one extra base hit last night and that was a triple by Miss State's Robson.

All of the other combined 19 hits were singles.

The only double in the last two games was down the left field line by Duplantis against Florida.

Yeah, that one was definitely double material if it had not have ended the game. He squared that one up.

this

maineri is figuring out how to hone the team to match the ultimate goal, the CWS

given the spectacular failures there over the years (UCLA... ) adjusting your hitting to still be productive seems like a smart move

This team is built to win in Omaha. He needed single slap hitters that don't strike out mixed in with a little bit of power here and there. This team doesn't strike out a lot so the ball is always in play. This is how teams like ucla and Virginia and west coast small ball teams thrive at TD Ameritrade
