So they used the proprietary Geaux font and didn't even design any LSU gear? Clowns.

I'm not an IP attorney, but I don't think you can "trademark" a "font".

Maybe not. But you can trademark a logo, which this company has manipulated.

Also, you can copyright a typeface, which LSU has done.

Yeah...it's the Geux Font flipped. Email Ward Wyatt at LSU Sports Properties and let him know...they'll shite that down with the quickness.

On the other hand, scalable fonts (because they are incorporated as part of a program or software) are protected by copyright. This means that copyright law (at least in t

Thanks. I was going to go talk to one of the guys in our IP practice, but didn't really care enough to do so.

As I mentioned, this is outside of my practice area.

Really? So even though LSU paid some company back in 2002 to create this font for them, and they've kept it in house (obviously someone with access to it grabbed it in this case...though I've never been able to to!!) they have no control over it?

Seems odd...not sure why that would be any different than some other form of mark.

Any more info on this would be cool to hear...

ETA: Who fricking downvotes a question? Buncha' savages...

Does this bother you that much? I can think of many more things to have rustled jimmies about. This is definitely not one of them. JMO
