So, I saw a picture of Nolen Smith at Duke that would show it's been around a bit. Then I noticed that it was a Tigerdroppings page that was showing up in the Google search:

Sadly to break it to yal he never started doing that as the BUGA nation sign, thats just a New Orleans thing young kids do (the hand signal), he just happened to always put quotes on his instagram saying Buganation when he did or made the signal in pictures. When he blew up people thought he made that up but teens in New Orleans have been doing that forever, and obviously its the 3 pt sign too and it also is another sign im not gonna get into. New Orleans black kid history fact of the day.

The difference between the typical 3 point sign and the Buga is that when doing the Buga sign the 3 fingers are significantly curled and the 3 point sign they are pretty straight.
