True. Mississippi State was supposed to be there but dropped out so they added Hawaii. My point was that it seems now we might start setting up some home and home series with people.

Any other venues have a similar event? Seems like it could become popular like the early season football events now.

They have one in LA. TCU and Vandy played in it this past weekend. The Sunday games were played at Dodger Stadium.

I doubt it becomes annual. But I could see going there every 2-3 years.

as a season ticket holder i would prefer this as opposed to having 1 less home series every year.

PM has publicly commented that it won't be an "every year" thing. Will Davis was on air this morning saying that exposure in Houston is important. Definitely sounds like PM will try to get Wichita State to re-arrange the series to allow LSU to return to Houston in 2017.

Personally, I think it would lose its appeal if it was an every-year thing in Houston. IMO, the Wally Pontiff game in Metairie has suffered a little from that. Although it will get a nice shot in the arm by playing ULL this year, after (yawn) USM for a couple of years.

WP has sort of run its course. It's fine to honor his memory, but the game is no longer special because it's a midweek game. Coaches are throwing Johnny Wholestaff which makes most games boring.

The Houston Classic had weekend starters pitching in a SEC series or regionals type environment.

Certainly not.

it makes money for the Pontiff foundation.
it gives folks outside of BR a chance to go to a game.
pitching is the same as any other midweek game.

I was responding to Goose's point about playing every year at Houston vs the one Pontiff game.

Playing SELU, USM, or Southern at the WP game does not have the same appeal. Granted, it does make money and it does allow N.O. area fans a chance to see LSU at a nice ball park.

I would love for Memphis to have a tourney (really where the SEC tourney should be)

That is a fine ballpark

I guess we remember SOME details differently. But nonetheless, we, lsu, brought the most fans/ticket sales and eventually the tourney folded. The reasons, who cares, still a shame.

Boosters are pushing LSU to play more games in Houston area. We have a ton of alumni there. We make money, yes.
