Did Les really alienate the former players?

I have seen a lot of tweets from former players and heard personally from some former players here in Houston about the excitement of being welcomed back into the program.

I never got the perception that Miles' program was closed off to former players. He always seemed to have a great relationship and an open door with them. Was this only certain players that played for him or certain players he liked?

Miles didn't know Flynn wasn't still in the NFL the other day when he brought him up. That seemed like a weird thing not to be aware of.

"S/O to Coach Orgeron. Thanks for inviting former players back to be a part of the program. This is a something that's been missing! #Salute" - Ryan Clark

How many of those guys played for other head coaches, namely Saban?

Ryan Clark just tweeted:

So I guess that's how at least one guy felt.

players loved him, didn't love the stubborness

the over practicing is definately his old school ways that hurt the team

I think this explains why LSU always looked like a tired team at the end of the year...

Les worked them too hard

which on one hand is good, showes he wasn't afraid to work them and "get it right" on the other hand it lacks a bit of wisdom

Yeah, I thought it was weird too. I know he is busy but c'mon man.

One played for Curley and Dinardeau, a few others I know here played for Saban and Miles.

Idk about alienate, but he apparently didn't invite them to practices or to walk with the team down the hill. There were always former players at the games though.

Surprised me too. At this point I'm starting wonder how Les could've survived 11 seasons and won a single game.

Dont worry ESPN will still paint him as a victim.

Rush/Hanny said on the tiger zone after Coach O's show that it's not that Les completely shut them out to come back, but rather it was that he made it more difficult than it should've been..

There wasn't an open door policy in other words. Said Les would request times, dates, and be very overwhelming formal about former players just stopping by.

Just what I gathered from their comments.

Exactly... You're only championship qb and you mean to tell me less than 10 years later you have no clue he isn't in the NFL?

Surprising. Also weird to think Les Miles being "overwhelmingly formal" about anything.

Coach O I like this !!!!! If I didn't have to travel this weekend I would be in Baton Rouge supporting you brother !!

Report: LSU interim coach Ed Orgeron invites former players to practice, walk down Victory Hill
After opening up portions of practice to the media for the first time in years, Orgeron wants former LSU players to be more involved in the program.
