Missed every inning of the game last night and when I read the paper this morning it said that Gausman was clocked at 102 mph. That's scary fast when you consider how good he commands his pitches. Is All-American in this guys future?

If it is, it will have to be this year, because he is gone.

My understanding is that Gausman tops out around 97 and usually sits around 94 and people like Cox add a few mph to make ping seem more professional.

Because it didn't look like he was throwing that hard, and there a very few human beings that can touch 100, much less 102

What's the fastest pitch ever thrown on record? When I was a kid, Nolan Ryan had that honor with 102 mph. Kentucky guy is telling me after a season of throwing 95mph, consistently, he unleashed a 102mph fastball? Either Kentucky guy is FOS or stupid. eta that Nolan Ryan did that in the 9th inning of a game he started.

It all very technical but it has something to do with Gausman's size. Time slows down near more massive objects. It all has something do do with time dilation or something unanother. Guy in the physics department ran some calculations and for Gausman to throw 102 is really like a normal size guy throwing 98. 98 is still impressive though.

Thanks. So coming out of the bullpen on a week's rest, he hit 105.

"Chapman, speaking through an interpreter with bags of ice strapped across his arm, credited his stepped-up velocity Friday to the fact that he’d pitched only once in the last week."

Gausman did not throw a 102 mph fastball.

Kentucky broadcast team said after the incident where Maners warned Gausman & the hitter (kid that went 0-5 with 5 punch outs), Gausman got amped up and he hit 102 afterward.

Doubt he was there consistently.

Can we change the title to why can't they properly calibrate the radar guns?

I didn't get to watch because no one in the Lake Charles area finds it significant (apparently) that the number one and number two teams in the NCAA were playing -- even though one happens to be 120 miles from us and our flagship university -- but Jim Hawthorn (who is always right) says he threw 102. It was the last pitch in the 6th inning

FWIW, J.R. Richards threw the hardest and fastest pitches that I have ever seen. His pitches were once described as "violent" by some announcers.

I think they use the same guns as LA state police. I swear I was doing 70, but the officer said his gun showed 78.

Those guys were pathetic. I turned off the game and just listened to it.

I'm out past Live Oak towards St. Helena & Charter didn't show it either.

Luckily I have High-Speed Internet and I just popped for $9.99 to get the Justin.TV app. It will also allow you to mirror to your TV with Apple TV.
