obviously because if there was no way he would be offered job then they wouldn't be talking to him-its that simple
No, it isn't that simple. I guess you HAVEN'T ever heard of politics or appearances. Do you understand the concept of throwing bread to the masses so you can at least say you interviewed an obvious candidate? There's any number of potential internal motivations UM could have had for interviewing him - all the way from "we want him really bad" to "well, let's just do this so it can be said that we conducted a fair search of the obvious candidates".
Bob Griese might not know...but we KNOW FOR A frickING FACT that YOU don't know.

Let's see. His son was a QB when Les was on the staff and Bob has a degree from Prudue. Where is yours from?
Actually mine is from LSU.....where the hell is PRudue anyway.....lol! And who gives a flying frick if his son played when Les was on staff...what he says makes no sense...

Griese is smart but that doesn't preclude him from being a biased observer. He's a Big Ten guy that has and will always be a proponent of the Big Ten and it's history. He is just as f'ed up that Michigan is down in the dumps as any other Big Ten fan. Also let's not forget his son is an alumnus of Michigan. He has personal feelings. While the thing with Les in the past is likely true it played no part this time. It's too obvious what they are all trying to do.It's only making them look immature and butthurt. They think Michigan is so great that nobody would ever turn them down. It's obvious.About as obvious as Brent Musburger's pain when the Pac 10 loses big games. He hides it better but his Pac 10 favortism is widely known and obvious.Just not as bad as keith jackson and his USC obsession.

I know there are different reasons for them to interview you dumb frick...that is not my arguement...If you could read and comprehend you would know that my arguement stemmed to the fact that Griese said there was no way Miles would be offered the job....my point is that this is the second time they have tried to get Miles and they got him neither time....Griese is a Michigan backer who is trying to make it look like they didn't really want him.....that doesn't seem to be the facts if you look at everything that has gone on over the past two attempts they have made.....

This.... What Griese said had a Michigan slant to save face.

Bob knows how it went down and he is trying to save face for Meeeechigan. It is a hard pill to swallow for those self proclaimed elites that Les thinks LSU is a better job.

So all Michigan Men don't have the class and character of Les Miles
Posted on 1/11/11 at 7:21 pm to jack6294
Class and I.Q. are two completely different things that are not always possessed by the same person.

I saw Griese, but I don't know if I'm willing to be as harsh on him for his opinion.
We've all read about the division between the Bo and Carr factions from the Michigan fans on here and Griese's son was obviously a NC winning QB under Carr, so it seems reasonable that Griese might have a pulse on opinions from Carr's side. Griese prefaced his analysis by stating he liked Les and thought he was a good guy. A statement like that seems like an attempt to distance himself from a perceived bias. Griese knows Carr didn't want Les to get the job, but didn't want to name names.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Griese ever said Les wasn't being offered the job, just that someone (Carr) didn't want him to have it and he wasn't surprised that he didn't get it. I think Michigan met with Les and offered him the job, but couldn't guarantee him that Carr wouldn't continue to have influence on the program, so Les declined.
IMO Griese was trying to save face for Michigan by being discrete about the facts, not because of some Big Ten pride thing.

Big 10 people are not only slow on the turf, they can be slow to stop their delusions of being grand also

Yep, I have many pilot friends who like to fly around just to talk to people. Sometimes I join them and one of our favorite spots is Baton Rouge. We like to come down to see if Les Miles is available for consultation - just for fun. He usually is and we ask him things like 'who we should hire and stuff like that'...You and Griese are retarded.

Mines from LSU and its pretty obvious from the timing of it all that he was offered, went to LSU to get what he wanted, said no, and Michigan hired their back up. Its not coincidence Hoke wt hired until AFTER Miles extension was leaked.

And what happened to Carr?

I saw it too. I agree with your view of his comments pretty much. I'm pretty sure he said "Les rubbed some people the wrong way" when he was there. That doesn't change what appears to be a fact that Miles was offered.
I don't know what Greise's IQ is and don't know what that has to do with anything. I doubt Genuine Tiger knows either.
