Did Alleva put the buyout in to protect O?

I think everyone (including Joe) knows that Alleva's job security is directly tied to O's. The only explanation I can find to this astronomical buyout is a that Allevais trying to protect O and give him as much time as possible.

There's no other way in hell that he is dumb enough to negotiate at 12 million dollar buyout to a coach with a losing record, begging for the job. I just can't bring myself to believe that he's that inept.

There's no way in hell that we pay 22 million for coaches not to be here, but is there a chance of Joe getting fired if we lose 5+ ?

Good Question. Also the LSU Bos Deep State boys are also to blame for this. How do you allow such a huge buyout like this...

It's a fair point, but if it's obvious Orgeron is not the answer after next season, Alleva will be fired first anyway

We should go ahead and crowdfund the buyout and get rid of Alleva and O.

Do we know, for sure, that there is a buyout? Maybe some poster just wrote it. Has some reputable source written, or said, this? I agree with your post; it simply defies belief.

If that was the case, why did he hire him to begin with. If he has so little trust in him.

If he did he is a dumbass

No one wanted him, hell the only one who would want him is a high school team

No doubt

I think Alleva tried to do the right thing in 2015 and got humiliated

He went for it with Fisher and Herman and got used

So he took the path of least resistance

It's been reported several times. Google is a thing so there you go. He has a fuching 12 million dollar buyout at the end of the season.

Virtually every coach has a buyout. Why should O be a complete and utter fool like you are?

I'd almost feel bad for him if he hadn't got used by Miles the same way for an absurd contract extension.

Oh and for the Duke debacle. He can eat shite for that.

Why he decided to act like a jilted lover instead of making a dispassionate decision is beyond me.

I agree with you. I personally believe he went balls out for Herman and asked Jimbo what it would take. Sexton probably threw out some astronomical number and years and he knew he lost when Herman said he wanted to hear from Texas. He then figured he could save face- hire O before Texas hired Herman and try and make the good ole boys happy.

Just so goddamn embarrassing that this clown is our AD.

If he had a backbone AT ALL then we land Jimbo or Herman at the end of '15.

This is so damn dumb. If Joe would have said- your buyout will be 75% of your salary you think O would have said no to LSU and went and applied for another job? He wouldn't have gotten an interview for the Houston job.

Also that's exactly what his buyout was at Ole Miss. 75% of his salary.

High buyouts are used to protect the school from other schools stealing prized coaches. Justin Fuente had a 7 million dollar buyout at VT (which is why we didn't even go after him). No one in their right mind is going to come take Ed and no one in hell is gonna pay to take him.

I think when Sexton asked for $10mm for Jimbo FKA blinked

Strike one

They slow played Herman and allowed Texas to leap frog them, which is what Herman really wanted

Strike two

Alleva lost the initiative and Fat Goebbels rallied the good old boys and the players and forced Alleva's hand on "our guy"

Alleva was looking at a whole new start with his third and fourth choices so he bailed and gave the powers that be what they wanted and hired CEO

Strike three

CEO knew he had Alleva by the nuts at that point and negotiated the contract guarantee in exchange for less HC salary to put the OC/D.C. high salary narrative in play
