I think I read somewhere a couple of years ago that the school actually pays for the policy. Unless they've changed it, I think that's the case. Does anyone know if they've that policy? I want to say LSU paid for Fournette's policy.

It's according to the career-ending injury obviously but most likely it would be in the long run....a knee/tendon type injury for example isn't that bad of a trade-off if you can collect 10 million because a long career as an NFL LB is guaranteed spinal destruction and a lifetime of misery after retirement.

that's a damn fine policy but in my opinion it doesnt make sense for him to return, as much as i would love it.

Why would fournette have a policy when he went pro as soon as he could? He left after his Jr season. And if he did have a policy, why didn't he play in the bowl game his Jr year after he declared for the draft?

As appealing as this may appear for LSU purposes, frick that shite and get that increased guaranteed money and be an NFL star DW40, create that legendary legacy and #StriveForGreatness

While I truely think he has to go & sincerely appreciate his “unfinished business” attitude, I will make a contribution tonight for the premium. Not easy for a senior citizen on SS, but I can find a few $ for DW!

Try collecting that. Not as easy as it sounds. Matter of fact, pretty impossible to collect that in full.

If they tried to screw him I bet Joey LaHatte could burn them out of three times the policy limit plus attorney's fees.

This is still the case, but like many have said in this thread and many others, these policies never pay out the way TD is dreaming about. It is almost never a black and white injury/reason for draft slide and ALL of these policies are GRAY.

Something no one has mentioned in the argument...
in a paid income via contract:
agent fees, insurance, income tax, SS tx, etc are deducted.

in a disability policy they are not usually(if White pays for the policy)... if paid by an employer such would be income, but no agent fees.
just not sure if LSU would be "an employer"

all I am saying is that the difference may be a smaller amount than stated...still substantial

Devin White is gone!!! This is a pointless thread! Almost every college football player dream is to play in the NFL and with a draft grade that high he'd be a fool not to leave.

Jeebus, for the one millionth time. This is not a pointless thread. Three pages of discussing a potential insurance coverage. Including the pros and cons of said coverage.

This is not a DW should stay/go thread. GTFO and go post in the dozens of those that already exist.

No, he had the policy in place while he was at LSU to protect him from injury. All the big-time players from around the country have some type of injury policy with Lloyds of London or some company like that.

Just curious how much this policy would cost?
I know it is more than 350.

I understand this, and Willis, who I compared DW too earlier, walked away early at 30 to somewhat mitigate this for himself. He still walked away having made, from contracts alone, 42 million dollars.

What would you do to your body for 42 million dollars? DW is doing it to his body for "free" for LSU.

What is this supposed to even mean? If you were a top 5-10 pick, anyone advising you to stay at lsu one more year would be doing so on a purely emotional basis. The exact opposite of thinking with your wallet.

Why wouldn't you be thinking with nothing but your wallet at this point?

to the career-ending injury obviously

Also, let's go back to this. A career ending injury can happen anytime. NFL players make their money on their second contract. They leave early to get to that second contract quicker. Mack of the bears just signed his second contract. 141 million, 90 guaranteed. Staying at lsu only prolongs DW's potential earnings and chances to make it to a large contract.
