There have been a number of threads on young players who have shown promise, I haven't seen much said about the heart of this defense, which is Devin White.
Nobody needs to be surprised that he is doing his job, but I noticed that he has been in on 15 tackles in only 41 rushing attempts this year. Ain't bad.
BTW, Battle (9), then Delpit are next in tackles, but with 58 passes attempted, that makes sense for a safety.

Devin is a dawg..gonna make Fitzgerald think twice about running it if he meets Devin 1 on 1.. I think Devin has the most potential on defense. Offensively, and I've said this for 4 months now, I believe Drake has most potential of the young guns on offense

Was a big part of shutting down the reigning heisman winner. Dude is fantastic.

I haven't forgotten the day White committed. It was enormous, as Chavis had been so flaccid in recruiting LBs. Everyone knew White was going to be a good one, but he was much more needed at LSU than anywhere else. Hell, I still truly believe that N$ wanted him so badly, just to make sure that LSU didn't get him.

At the time Saban was recruiting White, he was primarily being recruited as a RB (and he would be a great one). Getting him over the Bamers was huge for LSU.

Also what has been impressive is at least twice he was seen moving the other ILB into the right spot. That includes senior Donnie Alexander when he returned. We know he has the physical ability to be a dominating force in the middle, but it's very encouraging to see he's picking up the mental aspect of the game very quickly.

He's also taken over the rushing ILB duty that Duke had last year. I expected that to fall on Alexander and White to fill Beckwith's role, but Aranda was so impressed with Whites ability to disrupt he got the nod. When Key is back to 100% and Rashard is back, he will be given more opportunity to roam and be even more disruptive.

I want to see Thompson basically stalking him like he did Hurts.

Let Devin spread the pain around. He's going to have a busy night, but he's up to it. Sat night he might earn some big money; this is the kind of team/situation that makes scouts take notice. Lot of keys to read, has to do everything right.

He is totally blowing things up on the delay blitz. Between this and the cheetah speed blitz, its going to be a long day for Fitzgerald.

The play where he lept at and then simultaneously tackled & stripped the ball from the Aggie RB last year was one of the most amazing football plays I've ever seen. Absolutely fricking ridiculous.

He's clearly the leader out there on defense. Like last game where a couple times he was shoving players into place.

In all honesty, Les Miles also recruited Devin as a RB; in fact, he was our SOLE RB recruit for the year. After he had a school discipline issue, Webster Parish found a way for him to graduate in December and enroll at LSU in January. Shortly after early enrollment he met w/ Miles and decided to move to LB. I've also been very pleased w/ Devin's play and his emerging leadership role on the team. In high school, he was a very bright kid and a good student.
