Coach Trent is just a douche. He made Matt look as if he had problems only so Trent himself didnt look as if his players didnt like him. Not sure how much hanging out you did with him outside of school, but my roommate who grew up with him in New Orleans and is still good friends with the guy attest to the fact that while he's a good friend, he is really a POS to everyone else. The reason why he transferred was because he developed so many enemies here in Baton Rouge in his short time here. He was also the type to start fights, and let his private school buddies finish them in HS, but that didn't go so well here. There were a lot of guys around that wanted to bash his head in, which happened on one occasion.

You are correct on the fact that he did start a lot of shite and let others (like me and a few others) clean up his mess. But thats not the reason he transferred.

And i only hung out with him outside of school. I didnt attend LSU but i did live at Southgate and he always stayed over since it was within walking distance of Tigerland lmao

He gets crazy when he drinks lol. But he really did care about his teammates and friends. He started getting into incidents at bars after he first attempted to transfer out of the LSU program and Trent denied his request. That was when he started to take his frustrations out other ways.

Our families used to be pretty close when they lived in Hammond. Things changed about the time Matt's older brother started high school. Very long story short: Matt's Dad became a total over aggressive basketball douchelord. And their family lost a lot of friends because of it.
Anyway, by the time Matt started high school at Ponchatoula, his Dad's ego had gotten completely out of hand, and it rubbed off on Matt. So as someone who has known him most of his life, I can attest that he is indeed a huge douchebag, but I blame his Dad for it.
ETA: Strangely, Matt's older brother is everything the good guy that Matt is not. This is likely because he never had the basketball potential Matt did. I really feel bad for Matt.

FWIW a few of the former players have expressed that they didn't like playing for Trent. You can believe it or not but...

I'm with you there, I've heard the same thing. It's late. Maybe I read his post wrong, but I took it as Trent tried to slander the kids reputation. Trent demanded hardcore discipline and that's a lot for some kids to handle. Especially when you aren't producing W's with it.

Ah, I didn't see it like that but maybe. I doubt he trashed the kid. However, I'm not mad Derenbecker is gone in the least bit. I don't think he'd be helping this team much at all if he were still here. Hammink, in five games, has impressed me more at SF than Derenbecker ever did.
And as far as his LSU teammates not liking him, I've only heard of one guy that the other players didn't like and it wasn't Matt.
