Alright, who do we want? Let’s speculate.
DC/LB: Marcus Freeman
S/PGC: Kris Richard*
DL: Bo Davis
CB: Corey Raymond
That’s a solid staff!
*I know he doesn’t like to fruit. It’s far different recruiting for an entire defense vs just one position.

I don’t know this for certain.. but it has been stated that players and other personnel don’t like him as a person. Haha

I agree 100% in regards to Busch. I think he has been very good at reaching into areas we don’t normally get and pulling signees not just let me flirt with you guys and leave you standing at the alter. Really until this year safeties have been solid under his tutelage also. I think that had everything to do with Pelini’s scheme!

Kris Richard is unemployed. Lead the greatest safety tandem in NFL history.
Marcus Freeman is a young up and coming coach who has his eyes set on a HC position. LSU has a long history of show casing coordinators who go on to HC roles in major conferences.
Davis is already on his way.

I agree. Corey should be coaching and evaluating all DBs. Use the spot on a LB specific coach unless the DC is one.

Except Richard wouldn’t be just recruiting one position. Coaches are assigned areas where they are responsible to recruit. That’s why Raymond is always in on the Florida kids and the kids out west has been a lot of Busch.

I would love an up and comer like Freeman or Reeves at UAB but I just don’t see O going out on a limb like that. He likes guys he knows and he will want a guy who has deep recruiting ties to the south already which is why I think he chooses someone like Muschamp or maybe tries to poach someone like Odom from Arky or Grantham from Florida. I wouldn’t mind Odom at all. I’d also look very hard at Zach Arnette at MS State.

Richard played in a zone coverage scheme. That doesnt mesh with the style of defense O wants to play.

PEople need to give it up on Jim Leonard. Will never happen. He’s a 3-4 defense and he’s the coach in waiting at his alma mater.
