I get the feeling that a lot of people are still waiting for the defense to improve.
Yes, the secondary has given up a few big plays, but that's to be expected when moving to a new scheme.

The stats, however are very impressive.
They are definitely an improvement from 2015. If there is more improvement expected, then we're definitely bordering on the elite again.

First 3 games..

2016
16.3 points/game
977 total yards allowed
11 sacks through 3 games
Redzone D - 8 for 9. Only 3 TDs allowed though, which is half of the redzone TDs allowed through 3 games in 2015.
opponents are 10 for 46 (22 percent) on third down conversions.
52 first downs allowed

2015
21.3 points/game
919 total yards allowed
9 sacks through first 3 games
Redzone D - 7 for 8 (6 TDs allowed)
Opponents were 12 for 42 (29 percent) on third down conversions
63 first downs allowed

For all of Miles' faults, getting Aranda certainly isn't one of them.

The defense has been great so far. How many people forgot already that we were torched by Syracuse's 5th string qb, Jeremy Johnson had like a 60 yard rushing touchdown, and Floridas shite qb lit us up as well.

If this defense can start forcing turnovers you will see massive differences in the team. LSU lost the turnover battle versus State by -3, right? Throw in an onside kick and State basically had a four possession advantage over LSU.

Very true. Definitely a big part of what made the 2011 D truly elite. We haven't seen that kind of turnover margin in a while. I think we'll start to see that change when the DBs and linebackers get more acclimated.

They did get a chance to rest in the first half last weekend. Good thing since they needed it for the second half.

Stats show improvement

Professionalism is palpable

DC is young and motivated

BOOM!!

There is a transition time......our HC has had to replace his DC, from Chavis to Steel to Aranda........

Aranda runs a different scheme from both, so to speak, so he'll have to gradually adjust the personnel to fit the system, and I believe HE IS DOING IT IN A CEREBRAL MANNER. I did not believe that about Chavis and MUCH LESS STEELE. I am glad we have Aranda and glad he is at Auburn................screw the manana-mentality of predecessor and Chavis.

I am glad Chavis was not coaching our defense against MSU, classics occasion for 3rd and Chavis/Steele.....

Lsu had the ball 15 minutes 61 seconds in the second half.
MSSt had the ball 14 minutes and 39 seconds in the second half.

But hey dont let facts get in the way of you trying to shite on a sec west win.

Isn't Steele a 3-4 guy? I thought he adopted our 4-3 last year because that's what our guys were used to.

If we can continue to become a dominant run defense, we will be in every game from here on out.

The only issue I have with our defense at this point is that they have allowed offenses to dominate time of possession such as the third quarter of the MSU game where our offense was barely on the field. We did not give up points per say but we did not get off of the field either. In the Whisky game we didn't give up a lot of points but it seemed like the defense was on the field alot and while the offense was doing noting there were long stretches where their best defense was their offense staying on the field. I expect that will improve every week and I expected a slow start on defense. I did not expect a disasterous start on offense against Wisconsin. I was hoping the offense could give the defense some breathing room.

Steele's scheme is shite. He took our secondary talent and had the 80th ranked secondary in opponents completions per game and the 57th rabked secondary in opponents passing yards per game.
He never tried to disguise blitzes. He always sent the same guys from the same
places.

Our offense was far more productive that our defense last year.
Texas a&m was ranked higher in some defensive stats( scoring def).let that sink in.
