No doubt. Can't play scared, especially when you got that kinda size.

I also thought he had a chance to score against Alabama on that 4th down reverse and took the easy way out of bounds instead of putting his nose down and driving for the end zone.

Okay, I'll give him a mulligan for that play in that situation. He did not dive because he did not want to take a chance of fumbling out the back of the end zone.

Stepping out of bounds at the one was prudent.

Definitely heard footsteps. Peterson would have been the last receiver/TE/RB on the team that I thought would not go 100% after a ball for the chance of getting hit. Maybe he is thinking about the $$ he would lose by being hurt before the draft, but it was chicken shite on his part. Totally against his character.

Yes, the ball that landed IN FRONT of him after he slowed down was under thrown. Great analysis.

the tv announcers saw him pull up in the al game and said next year he would t.d.
i think they were saying that he is young and will do all the right things next year.
yall are asking so much pro ability from kids.
he will be a big star next year.

and, damn, next year is gonna be unbeaten.

Uh, running a route out is now 'pro ability'?

I think Peterson is a great player and he had a great game on Saturday...except for that play. Nobody is persecuting him - just speculating as to why he did not catch that ball.

Age has nothing to do with it. Shep takes hits from safetys and LB all the time and DP has a good 60 pounds on him! No excuse for not going after that. And NO excuse for the PF. I fully expected him to ride pine for the duration.

If he adds another 10-15 lbs of muscle, he will be a great receiving TE prospect for the NFL. That is, if he focuses on catching balls over the middle. Colston or Shockey he isn't. Is that type of toughness learned? Hopefully so.

I think he can be. But his blocking needs to get better or he'll be nothing more than a big slow wideout.

Another 10-15 lbs won't help if he gives up on plays like he did in this one.

Why do some of you think this ball is under thrown

That ball is on the money

He'll get a chance this weekend to make up for it

He's not that young. I love him and think he's going to be a great weapon for the offense next year, but he needs to drop his nuts, quit playing so soft, and get over his apparent fear of the endzone.

Early in the thread, a couple of posters were confused about which pass was being discussed.

I couldn't believe he pulled up. looked like a nicely thrown ball to me. footsteps was the only thing possible I guess. Even then, didn't look like defender was closing that fast.

I first wondered about his toughness when he ran that reverse against Alabama and didn't attempt to run over the lone defender at the goal line. Instead we see a tip toe down the sidelines.

I wastched this play over and over yesterday on a replay. The ball was right there and dropped no more than 3 yards in front of him. Had he kept running he the ball would have dropped in his hands and yes he would have been rocked by a hard charging defender.

It's not even like he had gator arms. He pulled up and made no attempt at the ball.

So far Peterson is 0-2 in dishing out a hit after he has (or should have) the ball. His diving catches near the goal line were nice. But, my lingering question, "Does he not want to take a hit?"

JJ led him right into the safety. If he had caught it he would have been laid out.

That being said, in the NFL they expect you to catch those and take the hit. I realize he's not getting paid to make that catch, but he needs to take that for the team.

In this day and age, taking one for the team might mean getting a concussion or paralyzed. That does affect playing time or anything. Ask Chris Tolliver.

This is such bullshite that I've heard multiple times.

THe fricking players are getting a scholarship and meals aren't they? Many of which, would have never made a full tuition scholarship on their own accord without football.

He should have went after that ball that is his job as a WR to catch the ball and give 100% at doing it and if he can not do it then get someone else who will. That team is loaded with WR's that would love to of had that oppertunity to catch that ball, safety or no safety, play to your max at all times no matter the sitaution.
