I've been watching him.

He sure is a strong DC. He speaks extremely well, and you can tell he is a football junky, and he is extremely smart. Love listening to him talk.

However, I have a question.

Has anyone seen him show HC style?

On the sidelines, he is very often by himself. He seems to stay in the x's and o's manner. Very cerebral for the sake of football "cerebralness".

He may very well have HC aspirations and style, given the chance, but have you guys seen a different style of him? Is he an NFL DC on the make?

He seems mild-mannered, and very x's and o's only to me, but I might be missing things.

IDK

ON one had, I think he is a great football mind. You can tell he loves learning about the game, he loves figuring it out, and he has on some level.

He is very quite, and you have to wonder about the rah rah part of being a HC.

But the players all seem to love him

I think he woudl be a great NFL DC. I think the NFL needs someone who can figure out offenses these days.

Agree, I have had the same observation. I think he will be a phenomenal DC in his career, but would struggle in the HC position. He is very much an Xs/Os type guy.

Let's see...

We have a first-year employee in a high-intensity, high-visibility position, with a team he inherited, and his sole focus is to get that team moving in the same direction and performing at a high level, because anything else is unacceptable.

Then we have people complaining that he is being too cerebral and not engaging enough on a personal level.

His JOB is X's and O's, and clearly, he has no trouble motivating his players. If his job was to get on camera and relate to the media, I am sure he could do that. Likewise, if his job were to be the executive in charge of the program, he would break the job down into its component parts and attack each of them.

But his JOB right now is to coach the defense, and in that endeavor he has devoted his entire focus, and the result is clear for anyone to see.

So, yes, you are missing things.

Honestly think that if he is ever going to come hea head coach, it would be down the road in the NFL.

Why? He doesn't have that "rah-rah" personality. Do you think guys flock to New England and play under Hoodie because of his amazing motivational speaking skills? No, they go there because they will receive amazing coaching and he'll get the best out of them.

How weird is it to see someone with a brain on the LSU sideline? It's been a minute.

And he does have a quite style, but when 1 and 33 got played badly for a TD he benched both with a violent quickness.

How, when and where would he have the opportunity to "show his HC style"?
what does that mean?

You are absolutely correct! He's a really good DC, but keep in mind he had the 2nd or 3rd most talented D roster in Tiger History this year, so he did what he was supposed to do. However, he is an introvert. He doesn't like to talk, hence why he walks around with ear buds in all day. I believe you must be a vocal leader in order to succeed on that level.

Tony Dungy

You don't have to yell and carry on to be a good head coach. Time will tell with Aranda I'm sure, if he ever becomes a head coach.
