Coach Dale Brown is one of the finest men who has ever lived in this great state. Period. End of discussion.

I missed **one** game from 1984-1993. I attended regularly from the time I was in grade school in the 1970's. I slept on the Ramp at The Assembly Center. I got flipped off by Christian Laettner, cursed at by Dwayne Schintzius, and lectured to by Joe B. Hall. I had a "Let's get silly in Philly" T-shirt. I drove all night to Atlanta with $60 bucks in my pocket, scored some tickets and saw LSU beat Sky Walker and the "unbeatable" Kentucky Wildcats to go to the Final Four. I drove to Gulfport to watch a High Schooler named Chris jackson.

I heard Daddy Dale wax on about Bigfoot, Hernan Montenegro, the crisis in the Middle East, the Raid on Entebbe, The Miracle On Ice, The health benefits of broccoli,The tyranny of the NCAA, the plight of the poor urban underclass, the space program, Elvis Presley and The Loch Ness Monster. All in one fifteen minute conversation. LOL.

I once, in a time of personal need, asked Dale Brown via letter, whom I didn't know personally, for a personal favor. With absolutely nothing to gain, and with no hope of ever having tangible repayment, he invited me to his office, granted me my wish, at considerable inconvenience to himself.

The man put his money where his mouth is. He cares about people and has a deep resevoir of compassion for his fellow man.
He is one of the best among us, and I salute him.

You know Baloo, what troubles me with the haters is not only how they try to diminish his achievements on the court (best in LSU history) but how they try to diminish him as a human being.

Dale is that rare individual, an accomplished man who has time for the little guy. He loves people.

He is a Force Of Nature, a man you only meet once in a lifetime, completely original, a trailblazer, a Leader Of Men.

We were lucky to have him.

Yep he has helped so many people in La....things no one will ever hear about. Good man and a good coach. All the not good at X's and O's is a bad tag from people who don't know any better.

I grew up in Alabama as an LSU fan.....big LSU/Dale Brown basketball fan. Wrote him a letter when I was a kid and he called my dad, got us tickets to LSU at Auburn with Barkley then him and Rick Huckaby brought me into the lockerroom after to get autographs.

Just goes above and beyond for people and always has.

People with low basketball IQ say this all the time.

Won more ?
What you mean is they should have beat Georgia Tech in the tourney that year?

Georgia Tech was a BETTER team. Kenny Smith, Dennis Scott, Bryan Oliver, etc were significantly better and more mature as basketball players that Stanley Chris and Shack.

I said the same thing in another thread. People who say that didn't see that team play.

He had all of those guys together one year.....when all except CJ were very, very raw. CJ was beast yes, but truth is that team was very, very raw. Next year, CJ leaves.

You never hear people who question how LSU didn't win it all with Shaq, Roberts and CJ ask how did LSU get to the Final 4 with the 86 team.

how highly ranked in preseason was the '86 team? wasn't it a preseason (or early season) top 10 ranked team. if so, then the potential for a final 4 run was always there

If I recall, the 86 team started out 14-0 and then went into a SERIOUS tailspin.

Redden,Taylor,Blanton ,J. Wlliams and Anthony Williams.

Nikita sat out that year.

That team would have beaten Chris, Stanley and Shaq more times than not, no doubt...
