Only thing I remember was him chasing down Dupre on his big gainer on WR screen.

Definitely didn't stand out, but played solid from what I saw. He will probably make his biggest impact on special teams in the fall.

My buried post on this
quote:

It looked like white was being asked to truly read the offense. He's such a great athlete... I can see what they're doing, they're fast tracking him mentally, seeing what he can handle. I hope when fall rolls around they stick him beside a veteran who tells him what to do and let him just go full speed without having to think. He destroys the gap he selects, he just doesn't choose properly all the time yet, which is expected of a freshman. When this guy gets the scheme fully, he's going to be a force

What spot was he playing? MLB with 2s? Did he play at all along side Beckwith?

I agree he will play a big role in STs like many highly talented but raw folks before him

Never with beckwith, playing beckwiths spot with the 2s. i agree that this guy will be crushing people on special teams.

I think he was about what I expected to see, which is a freak athlete. He needs to learn the defense more and get more comfortable in his position.

All of this isn't surprising considering he's a high school senior playing ILB in a brand new defense in the SEC. Tons of potential with Devin though. He will play a lot of snaps this season.

He made a tackle in the backfield in his first couple of plays. He looked fine to me.

He's active, spring games always look ragged, the speed is there to chase down people

Wait....a guy who is really supposed to be going to his high school prom in a few weeks, didn't wreck shite at the spring game? Is that how the rant does it? lol, sorry couldn't resist.

TBH, I kind of forgot about him until he tackled Dupre so the first part of the game I wasn't even looking for him. I was just curious what his role was.

Dude will get a lot of PT this fall barring an injury. He and Beckwith will hold down the Mike and Sam positions in Aranda's 3-4 scheme before the season is over with.

I think he has had all of 15 practice sessions to learn his assignments, work on individual techniques and adjust to the size, speed and strength of SEC athletes. He needs more practice time before he will have the desired understanding of his assignments and making adjustments to those assignments as opposing offenses call audibles.

I read somewhere that he had 7 tackles. Not too bad.

Wish he had a yr of experience under his belt and was a SO. Guy has the size/ath ability, and will no doubt start next season at ILB.

Just me, or did D Riley look like a S out there? Worried he will get pushed around by run-heavy teams...

Pretty sure aranda wants him there to flex out and he is the most trusted lb in pass coverage. At least that's what I gathered from sleeping at a holiday inn.

I'd rather see white there with beckwith telling him where to go but miles always gives upperclassmen the advantage in spring. Don't blame him.

Devin White finished with seven tackles, behind only seniors Dwayne Thomas' and Duke Riley's eight each for the team lead.

This is certainly not terrible for a guy that's been on campus for 3 months.

Seems to be ahead of DJ Welter at a similar stage...
