He gave up early and was only concerned with getting mound time for pitchers of next year. Pathetic-he wasn't in the game-it was as if he forgot where he was. Sad to see.

You bring in Newman..cool. Curveball is wicked, pulled just because.

Makes a little sense because he was trying to keep Newman available for tomorrow as the first guy out of the pen. I'm pretty sure that was predetermined. And, he was willing to take the risk of going deep in the bullpen.

Bring in Godfrey with this tight zone and throw breaking balls, lol.

makes no sense. That was like a 10% chance of succeeding. Most of our guys were clearly shaken by the stage. I don't think Godfrey was. He just can't consistently throw strikes. Some things look ok on paper. That one did not.

quote:

Devall comes in and nails it down...pulled.

Doesn't bother me. Devall is very hittable. He got an out. I was ok with that move.

quote:

Norman comes in and gets the first 1,2,3 of the game...pulled.

Makes no sense. He's not a guy that you were planning on relying on tomorrow. You could have burned him and had the exact same plan tomorrow night. This was a very bad decision at a time when you needed to keep the game at 6-3. And, he was the only one tonight who wasn't visible shaken.

We would have had the tying run at 2nd with 1 out had we been able to hold them down.

The pitching decisions THIS game
by far were the WORST of Paul Mainieri's LSU tenure. This was a
cluster_uck. What was he thinking --trying to save pitching arms for the
weekend. Plus the hitters had a very
poor approach at the plate for the
post season. Very disappointing.

After starting Person.

He didn't lose us game 1, but he lost us this one.

1. Starting Person was wrong too - what do you guys not understand about TCU hits lefties better than righties despite having a lefty heavy lineup?

2. He most certainly lost of game one with the same poor decisions. That is unquestionable.

What's interesting is that I think if we throw strikes, we have a real chance of winning. It wasn't that our pitchers weren't quality enough and were getting hit. It was the 5 walks. I think we could have survived otherwise.

If you think PM lost game 1, its the wrong thread for you. The errors and free passes lost that game.

No problem starting person. Didnt have alot of good options. It also allowed him to control TCUs run game. Zach unfortunately just didnt have it

Enough with this saving guys for tomorrow stuff. he severely mismanaged the game. If one of the arms was in a rhythm and throwing zero's you ride that guy. Worry about the next game if you happen to get there. What was his plan had the game gone into extra innings? Bregman throw the 11th? He completely gave up on the team and the players knew it. You could see it starting in the 7th. That is unacceptable.
