Well, to be fair, his only competition is Smoke.

But the haters will be back should he fail in the postseason. They're just lurking right now.

We know how well he does in May. That isn't new. And it's great. Really. I like that our teams are finishing the regular season strong. And I like our SECT wins... but seriously, teams need to do better in June. And I'm not talking about just Omaha. That's the criticism PM needs to overcome for a lot of fans.

This will be the 6th year in a row that he secures a national seed.
If you want him fired because of midweek losses you're an idiot.

Earlier I saw a post about how this team has gotten better. I find it comical how when the team loses- fire CPM.
When the team wins- it's because they've gotten better.
CPM tweaks the team all season long. He uses midweek games to develop players. He's admitted it over and over. If you are a knee-jerk reaction type fan who wants him fired because of mid-week losses than you are too stupid to understand baseball.

LSU baseball wasn't good at all before Skip's era.

Needs more national championships to be mentioned with Skip. All this is good and fun but the only thing that's matters is what happens in Omaha

CPM doesn't give a flying frick about stupid little immature dorks who call themselves fans. His stats speak for themselves and he knows it.

FIFY

Now, with that said, this team was preseason top 5 and it wasn't a "you're LSU, so we're going to rank you high" type thing -- we deserved that ranking based on the crazy amount of talent we returned.

With that expectation set at LSU, you better make it to Omaha and not make a quick exit when you do. Anything less than at least 2 wins in the CWS will be a disappointment and Mainieri should hear criticism. We can't slip up this year, because next season will be a bit of a rebuild.

Does he? And if we separate the NCAAT stats from the regular season stats the last 7 years?

Look, this isn't really the time for this debate. The team is doing well and every LSU fan should hope that continues. But if he gets another top 8 seed (which he will) and, again, gets a win or less in Omaha, then this will be the criticism. Period. I'm simply pointing that out.

This is my take/opinion:

First, and foremost, I am always a fan of the players #1!! They're the ones sweating and grinding and aren't getting paid like the coaches

Second, if I have a major issue with a coach, whether it be on the field or off, I pose my issue & hope that it doesn't effect the team (players)

Finally, I do not rank a coach, until ALL his/her work is completed for that athletic year.
CPM's year is not over.

For the sake of the players (my #1 priority) I hope he can gain a good draw, and finally (since '09) get into the winners bracket - at least.

Oh, but he does. He makes snarky comments to the media as soon as his team hits a win streak. He made one of those comments earlier this year and then when the team struggled the next couple of weeks he looked like a fool. But they certainly have hit their stride lately, and we are all happy about that.

Of course, Paul tried to take a shot at the complainers just yesterday by saying, "we don't come to lsu to win midweek games, we come to play for national championships." Good call, no matter what happens in Hoover, the real season is after that. So while Paul tried to have a gotcha moment with the fans, he admitted that the NCAA postseason is what matters and he's been pretty mediocre at that lately. Hopefully this year he turns it around.

He is the only Coach in History to win over 1300 Games and a College World Series.

^^^^^ this is why CPM can't be graded yet ^^^^^

Until he finishes, however well, the post season!

Blame Skip but the LSU Baseball fan base expects Omaha and a good showing there to boot!

Lately, CPM's showing in Omaha hasn't been an A grade
