Players did great today, but this was really won by the coaches.

Starting Romero over Pap and moving Deichmann down in the order so that Romero could hit cleanup won the game for us.

Nothing different than any other days. The players finally executed a well managed game.

CPM- "I would like to give credit to myself for the win today. I felt like I lit a fire under the team last night, especially deichman when I threw him under the bus".

Papierski's injury probably made that decision for Mainieri.

“I’m so proud of our guys for continuing to battle in this game after we faced the early deficit,” said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. “They could have easily thrown in the towel when we were down 3-0 in the fourth inning, but they didn’t, they remained focused and energized, as I knew they would. These are high-character kids, and they earned a significant victory today.”

No "we" anywhere in there. All "they". All the credit was given to the players.

He said a lot of "I" at the start of the interview. He likes to talk about his decisions when "they" win. Of course, he says plenty of "we" too. Always does. It's just the ratio changes.

I never believed it myself till someone pointed it out to me. Now I can't help but pay attention and just laugh.

I'd find something better to do to occupy my time than analyze ratios of "we" to "I" and "they" in a coach's post-victory press conference. But I guess I'm old fashioned.

I don't "analyze" anything. I just listen. Like I said, I would never have even noticed had someone else not pointed it out.
