Who has taken aaron nola's spot?

It takes more than one weekend to figure that out.

Poche was the Friday starter this week, but it's not set in stone yet. Poche and Lange both looked very good this weekend.

I personally think Lange will be on Friday's by SEC play

Ehhh... yeah, he certainly has the best stuff on the team, but freshman pitchers are such wild cards.

I can see this too. I was expecting some nerves from him, but Lange was very impressive right from the start. He's definitely got the stuff for it.

Still uncertain. When Jake Latz gets healthy he will be a factor in the weekend rotation as well.

Lange has great stuff but Poche looked composed out there

Mainieri seems reluctant to turn it over to Poche. I think he has reason to think Poche may struggle in the Friday night role.
Instead, it looks like he's hoping a freshman can come in and be competitive on Friday (.500ish) which would give LSU a decided advantage on Sat with Poche.

That's too much pressure on a freshman IMO.
I wouldn't mind it if we didn't have an experienced solid guy like Poche, but Poche was great this weekend and there's no reason to move him out of Friday night role as long as he's throwing up 2's or less every weekend in 5+ innings of work.
Putting a freshman in the ace role in the SEC is an immense amount of pressure. You're going up against the best pitchers in the nation just about every week and it's hard to keep up being an inexperienced freshmen. Remember, these guys are used to throwing up 0's every week coming out of high school. Imagine the pressure of trying to go toe to toe for 5, 6, 7 innings against a guy who will likely hold us to 2 runs or less along that time frame.

You're probably right. Maybe by season's end depending on Poche. Optimally, he'd stay on Saturday since that means Poche is doing well
I think it's just somewhat clear that Lange has a really high ceiling.

They said on the radio this wknd that CPM is gonna rotate the Friday night guy the next 2 weekend series before settling on a rotation
for the Houston tourney & beyond.

I mean now is the perfect time to try different things, we aren't playing good on the weekends until SEC play (except Houston which Poche really should start that game IMO)...but I see no reason to put all that pressure on a freshman as long as you have an inexperienced guy like Poche dominating.

I was concerned about who would be the Friday guy, but it looks like we've got two elite guys and a deep bench full of strong starter/long relief candidates.
I'm more worried about the closing role than I am about starters right now.
