No. He sounded like a bumbling fool and his in-game coaching and clock management reflected the same.

I'm going to have disagree with you on him ALWAYS doing his best to put the team in a position to win. His pride superseded that when he flat out refused to change the offense.

There are still those who think it was/is an act, Les-speak was definitely an act. He knew what he was doing, and it was part of his quirky sense of humor. He's a very sharp guy. I understand that many people may not have appreciated it, but he put an effort into creating his Les-isms. I'm not so sure how well it would work from the broadcast booth though. As a coach, you get a lot of latitude and the broadcast guys accept the fact that head coaches often will try to be deceptive and not answer the questions, especially if the non-answers are entertaining. But it would probably get old pretty quick in a color guy or analyst.

This was a matter of fact. All you have to do is get him 1:1. Super nice guy and not once you heard the BS.

I've never bought any of this. I am sure he is personable one on one. I am sure he is somewhat more articulate with recruits and families. However, he also had too many times when he tried to be serious in post game interviews and failed. yes, he was frequently trying to obfuscate and speak in circles to not say anything but there were times when he just didn't have the presence to give a straight, coherent answer. Further, it's one thing to do this occasionally but it was, at the least, irritating and counterproductive. Listen to some of his pregame speeches. watch him bumble through the post game after the '09 Ole Miss clock debacle.
He should kiss Skip Bertman's arse in perpetuity for giving him the opportunity to be the head coach LSU.

but no, it was all Less Miles' true persona.

this is my belief as well. Yes, I know for a fact he tried to play off his image. I've had people in the athletic dept say he would come out of press conferences sometimes saying "I got 'em there didn't I".

But IMHO his act and reality were not all that different. I think he tried to play off an image that was pretty accurate and he was for all intents and purposes what we saw.

Dude you are from Lutcher. Other than your family, who could stand to listen to YOU for hours?

Les has his flaws, but he always did his best to put LSU in a position to play for victory.

He always played the players the coaches thought would give LSU the best chance to win.

I call bullshite on your statements above! During the NC he didn't even give Lee a chance to move the team..who knows what could've happened. We do know that JJ was epic failure all through the game. And I guess not only the NC game prove your statements wrong, but Harris being replaced by Etling shows that Miles and his coaches, at that point, had lost the ability to determine talent.
