The very fact that it requires this much research and discussion shows how retarded it is.

When an Aubie idiot tried to insult me with the corndog thing, I actually told him it was a non sequitur. He looked at his rather large wife and asked her, "what did he just call me?"

Nice!

If you want to get an indifferent reaction from an LSU fan then call him/her a corn dog. Seriously, 95% of LSU fans really could care less if they were called corn dogs. Hell I like corn dogs. They are tasty.

You cant find a corndog at Tiger stadium.
I think it was supposed to be HORN-DOGS and the stupid ref bribing, player paying, band member punked, no class, sell your soul for a asterick attached BCS crown, 3 mascot claiming ,p.o.s.,that makes up Auburn got it mixed up.

Corndogs = Carnies, white trash, trailor park cajuns, etc. This insult derives from the Big 12.

Not sure exactly when/how it started, but the Texas/OU game is played at the Texas State Fair Grounds, so I've heard Texas fans make jokes about the Sooners coming down for the corndogs (presumably attempting the carnie/white trash joke). Kind of morphed over. I guess Huskers got mixed in because of the corn crop, but I think it was also a subtle joke about their whole state turning out for games and turning the parking lot into a state fair. Something like that.

Never heard it in association w/ LSU until the Auburn fan stole it, and hadn't seen it before I saw it here.

To sum it up:
PART ONE:
Nebraska fans were called corndogs by Big 12 foes because they are the cornhuskers. Makes sense, I guess.

PART TWO:
Auburn fan proclaims LSU fans smell like corndogs, It's an obvious case of plagiarism. If an opponent has the same mascot as you (see: Auburn Tigers and LSU Tigers) you can't really make fun of tigers. What's an unimaginative Auburn fan to do? Steal some random insult from other passionate college football fanbase.

Over the years some people have reasoned that Auburn fans (and now other less intelligent fanbases including Alabama, UGA, Florida, etc.) call us corndogs because of all the fried food we cook at tailgates. This is a spin put on the obvious lack of imagination this insult was born from. Anybody who has been to LSU during a tailgate realizes quite quickly that most food is grilled or prepared in other ways more frequently than fried.

This is all really funny because most LSU fans now embrace the corndog name because that insult(?) shows, more than anything, how lame Aurburn fans really are. Being called a corndog is now a badge of honor. There are worse things to be. How would you like to be a Gump or Bammer?
what I have heard from Auburn fans is that they call us that because when we come into town, all of the RV's make iot look like the carnival is arriving, and the carnival smells like corn dogs
