quote:And casual dipshit observers posting on internet message boards make mistakes far, far, FAR more often. You have never, once, in your life, made an observation or judgment about football that is as accurate as every one that Les Miles makes about his team. He has far more information about them than you ever will about any football player, and he is far more capable of evaluating and applying that information than you are. Even when his ultimate decision does not work or your conclusion does work, your judgment is still not as accurate as his. If that doesn't make sense to you, then speak with a poker or baseball player. Just because you called a bet and won where the professional poker player would have folded does not mean you made the right decision; it means you got lucky. Just because you took a ball that a MLB batter swung on does not mean you made the right decision; it means you got lucky. Over the course of thousands of decisions, the person who is right more often is the one using smarter decision making every time; not just the times he was right.
People close to situations and personally invested make mistakes all the time.

Miles wins games but has never won a national championship with his own players. This is the true measure of success. Unfortunately, Miles falls short here.

So fire him? He did better with Sabens athletes than he did and is doing better with his own than any coach has ever done at LSU. People might have their reasons to dislike him, but he definitely should not be fired.

quote:So every coach that hasn't won a championship after at least 5 years with that program is no more qualified to assess football than any blowhard with a keyboard? I don't know if you noticed, but that was the point of the post: whether Miles and his staff are more qualified to make judgments and decisions regarding LSU's football team than a random fan on a message board, and thus be more likely to have made the right decision.

And for the record, Miles has won a National Championship with his own players. Everyone on LSU's roster in 2007 was playing for Miles, and every one was "his" own players, just like every player on our 2003 roster was "Saban's" own players (and Bama's 2009 roster, for that matter).

Excellent post/summation.
Nega-Tigers are just quitters.

So you're saying there is no need for a coach at all...

I've said that I don't mind having a losing season this year as we get Harris prepared for NC runs the next two/three years. So that kind of deters that part of the argument of WIN now and also prepare for future.
Miles is the best person you could have running your program from an ethical or moral standpoint. Quality individual, and he's an elite recruiter. High school kids are stupid and make bad decisions, Miles doesn't play games with them or any of the other BS which turns a lot of these prima donnas off. He gives you an offer and makes sure you follow through with a commitment like a man.
I wish we weren't the poster child for early departures as I think we have at least 1 NC in 12/13. But our guys are in demand.
Miles makes some bonehead coaching moves sometimes but all coaches do. My biggest fault with him is when he gets into that game or two a year where the opponet has his gameplan figured out and just shutting it down he doesn't adapt, it's that bang head on the wall mentality and it can frustrate a fan base. And Miles can be a little slow to make key personnel decisions.

Straw man argument. And a stupid one at that. Criticizing the few alleged lapses of Coach Miles is not the same as claiming to know more or be better than Miles.
The sad part is that you probably think you are oh-so-clever typing that wall of text.

obviously meant to drive home the pumper argument.
I am BTW a sunshiner, but I would challenge a negatiger then to put together a similar post on their miserable views..just so we get a fair and balanced view.
